THE ART OF STYLING A SMALL CAKE
4 years on and this is still one of my absolute favourites. đ¤
Styling smaller cakes is a must, in my opinion.
This one sat on a tall pedestal, giving it almost an art-gallery, showcase feel â small in scale, but still very much a statement centrepiece.
And, of course, the black stand.
One of my favourite (and simplest) ways to style a white cake when the overall wedding aesthetic is a little moodier or earthier is to place it on black. It does so much of the work, adding contrast, grounding the design and giving it presence, without taking the attention away from the star of the show: the cake itself.
If youâve been in my little cake world for a while, you may have noticed my black stands making fairly regular appearances whenever the setting calls for something a little moodier.
Because for me, making the cake is never quite where it ends.
I want my couples to get the absolute best from the cake theyâve invested in, so if styling hasnât already been considered, Iâll always make suggestions about how we can display it to give the design the presence it deserves within the room.
Sometimes itâs a taller stand. A different colour. A change of table linen. Removing something rather than adding something.
Tiny adjustments and thoughtful little swaps can completely change the final look and when itâs probably the most special cake youâll ever order, I think it deserves that consideration. đ¤
