Time flies... our break is over and we are back and baking!

And although I know it might be too early for some of our customers but soon it'll be CHRISTMAS!

Only one more week left and we will bring our Stollen back to the market! Something to look forward to, isn't it???

In the meantime there will be plenty of cakes, bread and treats to help getting over the upcoming storm at the coming weekend.

Recon a slice of cake will lift your mood and make it easier to cope with the rain, wind and leaves falling off the trees...

Therefore our bakery is closed today and tomorrow and we won't be at the Totnes market on
Friday 16th of October and
Saturday 17th of October!

It's October!

Can't believe it's already time to slow down and enjoy trees shift from green to brilliant shades of red, orange, gold, and brown. An invitation for a walk in the sunshine and return for a cup of tea or coffee - and maybe have some cake!?

And although I know it might be early for some... but as it's not long now until Christmas we've just been trying our first Stollen (Quality control is the most important part of running a bakery!).

Whilst you still need to wait for the Stollen (available from November) our famous
APPLE SURPRISE CAKE has returned to our menu!

I usually focus on our cake range but think I should highlight the joy of enjoying real handmade bread (with the secret ingredient "passion"...). And no, don't panic! There will be cakes, don't worry!

Sometimes we need some inspirations how to make life a little better... and good food made with local ingredients is part of it.

Fish stew with some Chilli Cheese Bread or seeded bread such as Seeded Wholegrain, Sunflower Spelt or Multiseeded Pumpkin Spelt with eggs, beans, tomatoes and avocado make such a beautiful breakfast!

We are looking for helping hands:
Bakery Assistant / Cleaner in our Bakery in South Brent

Bakery Assistant:
Thursday: 9:00am – 2:00pm
Friday: 9:00am – 4:00pm
Salary (depending on age and experience up to £13.50)

Cleaner:
Saturday: 5 hours (flexible)
Salary (£15.00, minimum age 18)

Role and responsibilities

• Your main role will be assisting our head baker
Assisting with baking and food preparation
(Might include heavy lifting)

• Cleaning and maintaining the baking area as neat as possible

• Maintaining and sanitizing baking tools, machinery and utensils.

The ideal candidate

• We are looking for people with great team working skills
• You should have a passion about baking and food in general
• Working in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work as part of a team as well as on own
• The ability to follow instructions
• Capable of physical work
• Hands on approach
• You should be punctual, committed and willing to learn

IT’S SUMMER!!!

Who needs the Mediterranean when you’ve got the sun in your garden, sea side near by and fresh amazing food on your door step?

It’s the time of year when it’s a pleasure getting up early listening to the birds in the morning watching the sun rise…

Phew, it's hot...isn't it?

One of the rare occasion we don't enjoy baking as much as we usually do...!

But this isn't the reason why we are taking some time off!

As I mentioned a while ago 2026 is the year of celebrations and this week it's Oliver's 60th birthday!

A reason to celebrate and have some time off to spend with friends and family from Germany!

But don't panic: we are open today and tomorrow as usual in South Brent and we will be at the Totnes market on tomorrow Friday 26th of June as usual.

We won't be at the market on
Saturday 27th of June (come and get your bread tomorrow) and
Friday 3rd of July but will be there on Saturday 4th of July!

As I've been sharing my journey through my cancer treatment 10 years ago I'd like to share the joy of celebrating an important milestone "10 years cancer free!" as well.

As a reward I'm treating myself to a week off now!

As a result we won't be at the Totnes market this week...

Don't be disappointed we will be back and baking next week on time for the upcoming Bank Holiday weekend.

As a regular customer you might already know: April is the time to change our cake range!

Although very popular our Apple Surprise is taking a break until the end of September... (fresh cream doesn't like sunshine and increasing temperatures I'm afraid).
