I usually focus on our cake range but think I should highlight the joy of enjoying real handmade bread (with the secret ingredient "passion"...). And no, don't panic! There will be cakes, don't worry!

Sometimes we need some inspirations how to make life a little better... and good food made with local ingredients is part of it.

Fish stew with some Chilli Cheese Bread or seeded bread such as Seeded Wholegrain, Sunflower Spelt or Multiseeded Pumpkin Spelt with eggs, beans, tomatoes and avocado make such a beautiful breakfast!

We are looking for helping hands:
Bakery Assistant / Cleaner in our Bakery in South Brent

Bakery Assistant:
Thursday: 9:00am – 2:00pm
Friday: 9:00am – 4:00pm
Salary (depending on age and experience up to £13.50)

Cleaner:
Saturday: 5 hours (flexible)
Salary (£15.00, minimum age 18)

Role and responsibilities

• Your main role will be assisting our head baker
Assisting with baking and food preparation
(Might include heavy lifting)

• Cleaning and maintaining the baking area as neat as possible

• Maintaining and sanitizing baking tools, machinery and utensils.

The ideal candidate

• We are looking for people with great team working skills
• You should have a passion about baking and food in general
• Working in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work as part of a team as well as on own
• The ability to follow instructions
• Capable of physical work
• Hands on approach
• You should be punctual, committed and willing to learn

IT’S SUMMER!!!

Who needs the Mediterranean when you’ve got the sun in your garden, sea side near by and fresh amazing food on your door step?

It’s the time of year when it’s a pleasure getting up early listening to the birds in the morning watching the sun rise…

Time to plan what to have at the weekend. Prepare your shopping list for Friday to buy all you need at the Totnes market:

- fresh fruit and vegetables (Blueberries, Strawberries and Raspberries bursting with colour and flavour, Tomatoes, Cucumber, Peppers and Aubergines inspiring every cook to prepare a light meal)

- fresh fish, meat and eggs

- wine to serve with the food cooked by you

- freshly baked bread, cakes and treats

- have some coffee and food to go whilst browsing

- Cloths, crockery, cutlery, vases, jewellery, scarves and plenty of other treasures you can find when exploring the market…

Phew, it's hot...isn't it?

One of the rare occasion we don't enjoy baking as much as we usually do...!

But this isn't the reason why we are taking some time off!

As I mentioned a while ago 2026 is the year of celebrations and this week it's Oliver's 60th birthday!

A reason to celebrate and have some time off to spend with friends and family from Germany!

But don't panic: we are open today and tomorrow as usual in South Brent and we will be at the Totnes market on tomorrow Friday 26th of June as usual.

We won't be at the market on
Saturday 27th of June (come and get your bread tomorrow) and
Friday 3rd of July but will be there on Saturday 4th of July!

As I've been sharing my journey through my cancer treatment 10 years ago I'd like to share the joy of celebrating an important milestone "10 years cancer free!" as well.

As a reward I'm treating myself to a week off now!

As a result we won't be at the Totnes market this week...

Don't be disappointed we will be back and baking next week on time for the upcoming Bank Holiday weekend.

Although very popular our Apple Surprise is taking a break until the end of September... (fresh cream doesn't like sunshine and increasing temperatures I'm afraid).

But this shouldn't be a reason to panic... so many other temptations will be waiting for you!
