Today White Lake Cheese makes its debut in the bakery. This cheese is BLISSFUL. We paid them a visit yesterday and were stunned to silence by the passion and attention to detail. We saw room after room of artistry, where they constantly push at the boundaries of what they know and what they think they strive to achieve.

When we visit artisans like the crew we found at White Lake, we feel nothing but relief for the future. There is a return to local, to sustainable farming methods, to being the best we can be. And there are people who can lead the way. West Lake, we love you and you’re in our fridges now 💛💛💛💛.

P.s we did a tasting when we got back yesterday and there was SILENCE, for those of you who know how hard it is to shut us up… that’s how magical these cheeses are. Buy them and try them, these are everything you need from cheese.

have always taken the business of combining bakery and chocolate to another level and that, our gorgeous crew, is why we’ve stocked up on croissant bars (needs to be tasted to be believed), rye crumb bars (excuuuse me??) and sourdough and sea salt (uh-huh..). Plus the pièce de résistance: drinking chocolate from the gods themselves. They make delicious presents, either to yourself or to your people and it’s the kind of chocolate even the water bunny would faint at…

It was on 4th July 1924 that Ceasar Cardini invented the eponymous salad. He made it because the rush had left his kitchen depleted and he was working with what he’d got. His Tijuana restaurant in Mexico was particularly popular that year due to prohibition being in full swing just across the border. Why are we telling you this? Two reasons:

First reason, it’s on the lunch menu. We made it, then we married it to some chicken which we crunched up in panko breadcrumbs (you are WELCOME), then we introduced it to some bacon (I know….). Once that was done and dusted we “whacked” it in some artisan bread. Result? The first customer declared it to be the finest sandwich he’d tasted in his life. Cheffy Jeffy reckons that’s because of the bacon. Wineguy Joe says it’s the panko crumb. We suggest you come and try it. We think it might be a keeper.

Secondly, it just goes to show that necessity is the mother of all invention.

If you saw us cartwheeling down the street earlier, this is why: we are now stocking . These guys are the real deal, talking to them gives us the kind of buzz you get at a meeting of minds. They care so very much about what they do and how they do it. They strive to push boundaries and challenge themselves to keep improving when they can. We’re a bit obsessed 🤩. Mr Chef Matt has used their produce in the restaurant for a long time, now we’re cracking it out into the bakery. We’ve got Saucisson, Palermo, Sobrasada, Ricotta and cheddar… come and check it out if you fancy some, we promise they’re the absolute BUSINESS.
