🍯 Syne Hills Resident Kitchen Fun: Rice Crispie & Cornflake Cakes!

There was a wonderful buzz in the kitchen at Syne Hills today, as our residents came together to whip up some delicious — and wonderfully messy — homemade treats! 🥄

We melted, mixed, and moulded our way through batches of classic Rice Crispie Cakes and crunchy Cornflake Cakes, sharing stories and laughter along the way.

Baking together is such a lovely way to bring our community together — stirring up memories of favourite recipes from years gone by, and creating new ones right here at home.

They’re cooling now… and we think they taste absolutely scrumptious! 🍽️

Today residents of Syne Hills have been making their own pizzas as well as enjoying a movie afternoon watching oliver twist.

Good morning. We are inviting anyone who wishes to come back to school with us on 1st September to please air out your old school uniforms for the day. We have the great church farm museum visiting us at 2pm. So get your uniforms ready and your pencils sharpened and we will see you there.

Dear Facebook friends. Syne Hills has taken on the bike in bloom challenge(see poster). If anyone can help us with the following we would be truly grateful. We require a bike rack for the rear and a basket for the front . If anyone has one tucked away in the garage they no longer need please can you let us know. (Or an old fashioned ladies bike that already has the attachments) Condition doesn't matter. We are also looking for a volunteer who has a van or a car with a cycle rack to take the bike from Syne Hills to varietcup, Lumley road who have kindly offered us a spot to display it by the 3rd September. A Wonderful Beach Day at Syne Hills Care Home!

What an incredible day we shared together at Syne Hills Care Home today — our beach day was absolutely amazing! 🐚☀️

Our wonderful residents got right involved in the preparations, helping to pump up the inflatables and get everything ready for the fun ahead. It was such a joy to see everyone pitching in and getting excited together.

We spent the day enjoying the beautiful sunshine, playing games, listening to some classic tunes — including favourites from The Beach Boys — and tucking into delicious refreshments. There was laughter and music everywhere you looked!

But the absolute highlight of the day was a very special visit: a beautiful 3-month-old baby came to see her Great-Great Grandfather! 💛 The smiles on our residents' faces were truly priceless — moments like these are what make our community so special.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make today such a memorable occasion and the staff that stayed on to help and to our chef for our fab pasta tea. Here’s to more wonderful days together!

☀️ Keeping Cool, Keeping Smiles ☀️

As the warm weather lingers, our wonderful residents and dedicated team have found the perfect balance: staying comfortable and refreshed, while still making every day bright and joyful!

We’ve been keeping things light and lovely—shifting activities to the cooler parts of the day, making the most of shaded spaces and breezy spots, and keeping plenty of cool drinks, refreshing treats, and gentle airflow on hand. No one has let the heat slow us down! 🧊💧

From gentle indoor games and relaxed quizzes to light-hearted word puzzles, bingo, and seated games and crafts—every activity has been chosen to be easy, fun, and full of connection. Laughter has been the best accessory this week; there have been grins all round, friendly little competitions, and plenty of shared stories along the way. 💛

It’s been such a pleasure to see everyone supporting one another—staff checking in, residents looking out for friends, and all of us taking things at a gentle pace. Proof that the warmest days bring out the warmest spirits here.

Here’s to staying cool, caring for each other, and keeping those beautiful smiles coming whatever the weather. 🌼

🐦‍⬛ Seaside Crafting Fun at syne hills care home

Our residents have been enjoying wonderful creative sessions this week, bringing a touch of the coast right here to home! 🐚

We’ve been busy crafting our very own seagulls and a wonderful variety of sea creatures — each one as unique and full of character as the people who made them. From carefully cutting and shaping materials to adding those final, thoughtful details, everyone took such pride and care with their work.

There was plenty of laughter and wonderful conversation along the way too — sharing favourite seaside memories, recalling days spent by the ocean, and helping one another with tricky steps. It was lovely to see so many smiling faces, and such a wonderful sense of camaraderie throughout the afternoon.

The results are truly delightful — our colourful flock of seagulls and school of fish are now proudly displayed, bringing a bright, breezy, cheerful vibe to our home. A huge well done to everyone who took part — your creativity and enthusiasm are simply wonderful to see! 💙
