Another lambeth cake for another 18th birthday celebration left the kitchen at the weekend 🎉 Swapping it up a little from the black to the silver theme 🤍

Reminder to self - check the details 1 last time before crumb coating the cake! What should have been a heart cake started its cover layer as a perfect round cake! But after a quick scrap off, cut and reshape, it ended as the heart it was made to be!

A day in the life of a home baker making a 2 tier cake for an 18th birthday. I actually spent 3 days in the kitchen from start to finish, also with another cake on the go 🤪And while this cake tested me, I was pleased with the end result!

I also learnt some new things along the way with this one:
Making gold paint ✔️
Painting gold on a buttercream base ✔️
Making a gold drip ✔️
Making black buttercream (definitely ‘trust the process’ applied here!) ✔️
Applying gold leaf is not fun ❌😂
