🌊 This World Oceans Day, we're celebrating action for Cornwall’s seas!

Since Cornwall Council passed the Motion for the Ocean in 2023, we've been turning ambition into action - putting the ocean at the heart of decision-making and delivering real change for nature and communities.

Highlights include:
✅ England’s first Marine Nature Recovery Framework created for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly aligned to our terrestrial Nature Recovery Strategy
✅ Cornwall’s first Maerl Conservation Action Plan and the UK’s first Maerl Forum
✅ The launch of Hidden Wonders of St Mawes, showcasing Cornwall’s incredible marine wildlife
✅ Support for seagrass restoration in Falmouth Bay, helping wildlife thrive, storing carbon, and boosting coastal resilience
✅ Embedding ocean health across council policies, programmes, and priorities

Together, we're helping create a healthier future for Cornwall’s seas and the communities that depend on them 💙🌊

Interested in farming solutions that bring down costs whilst maintaining yields?

Come to the Food, Farming and Nature Hub (Stand 286) at the Royal Cornwall Show 🚜

Metalform will be showcasing their Tow & Fert machine that produces ‘less fert, less cost, more grass’. Using foliar applications it can even be used to apply natural alternatives to chemical fertilisers, such as molasses or seaweed.

Come along to discover how the clever design could help you and your land!

Prickles and Paws Hedgehog Rescue has opened its new purpose‑built Hogspital in Carnanton, Newquay! 🦔

Cornwall Council's Climate & Nature Fund has match funded £4,000 towards the installation of solar panels and 15 kWh of battery storage. This means lifesaving incubators keep running during power cuts, like those experienced during Storm Goretti 🌩️

This renewable energy system is helping the charity cut carbon, reduce running costs, and build resilience all while caring for up to 1,400 hedgehogs every year 💚

If you have a project that tackles the effects of the climate and ecological emergency, you could receive up to £5,000 in support! https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/funds/cornwall-climate-nature

This nifty and eco-friendly technology was funded via Cornwall Council’s Climate and Nature Crowdfunder, and we’re excited to take a look.
