What do you know about sourdough ??
Sourdough from a supermarket is very different than the sourdough you would buy from a good bakery.

How many ingredients do you think are in a white sourdough ??

My sourdough takes 24 + hours some take longer.
I start mine on a Friday morning ( I have to remember to feed it on a Thursday night )

Feed it you might say. Yes feed it. It’s called a starter and this is what we use to make the bread.

Any ideas what a starter may be ??

Here’s mine ready for a over night sleep in the fridge xx

I’m not quite ready to let go of summer yet, but December is fast approaching. Thinking ahead for Christmas Eve, would anyone be interested in a mixed platter box/graze box, consisting of all or maybe scaled down
Pork pie
Sausage roll
Festive tartlets
Scotch eggs
Crackers
Bread
Chutney
olives
Cheese
Sliced meat.

Treat boxes containing all or maybe scaled back
Brownie tree 🌲
Gingerbread Cookie
Rice crispy Xmas pudding
Mince pie shortbread

We had a good busy day today.

The date and pecan cake all sold out, I had such good feed back on this last year xx

A few Halloween treats have started to appear on the counter xx

So pop in tomorrow and grab your self something delicious whether it be a slice. A pie. A sausage roll. Some granola or honey, I’m sure you won’t be disappointed xx

So on Monday I spent the morning making honey and goats milk soap with the lovely Ita’s Natural Essentials. I’ve done this now for a few years. These soap are going in a gift set with my honey, they was really popular last year so hopefully they will be again this year. ( I hope so as I’ve made 24) so keep a look out for them appearing in the shelves xx.

Can you guess this weeks chutney ??

So this chutney is a new one for me although I don’t know why I’ve never made it before as it’s very in keeping with where I live (this is a clue to the name)

The ingredients are apples. Tomatoes. Onions. Dates. Spices. Vinegar. Brown sugar.

It’s Parkin season.

What is Parkin ??

Parkin is a traditional, dense, and sticky gingerbread cake made with oatmeal, black treacle, golden syrup, and warming spices. It’s traditionally a bonfire cake and best kept for 4/5 days before eating.

My recipe is for Lancashire Parkin and was my grandma’s recipe.
I made a batch on Friday so will be ready for the counter on Wednesday.

Afternoon folks. It’s a bit drafty isn’t it.

Tomorrow’s counter will consist of pecan brownies (finally got some pecans) Blondies. Rufford rascals. Spooky Rocky road. Flapjack. Almond slices. Plus lots more.

Pies. Sausage rolls. Pasty’s

It’s bread day so full selection of breads.
Sorry no sourdough (silly me forgot to feed the starter. Sorry )

Pasties are - pistachio. Apple and custard. Pan au Suisse.
