Such a lovely afternoon at Cooper’s Market in Great Missenden! Thank you to everyone who came and brought our delicious mince pies! Despite the freezing temperatures we sold out of everything!

We will be featuring our Mince Tarts. Delicious tarts filled with our signature orange and cranberry mince filling encased in sweet, orange shortcrust pastry.

Consciously choosing to remove alcohol from our signature mince pie filling, I wanted to create a pie that can be enjoyed by child and adult alike.

Packed full of warm spice and citrus flavours, our mince filling is purposefully chunky to create texture and interest when mindfully eaten.

Every mince pie is hand crafted to ensure they are free from preservatives such as sulphur dioxide and artificial flavourings.

The difference between supermarket mince pies and our mince pies is sulphur dioxide…

Sulphur dioxide is a toxic gas that is released during volcanic activity. It’s a vile rotten egg smell. Absolutely vile.

Food manufacturers use sulphur dioxide in some foods as a preservative. It is a gas that’s very good at killing things! Shockingly, whilst it’s diluted down to ‘safe for consumption’ levels, it is specifically ‘safe for a healthy person’ and foods containing sulphur dioxide are not recommended for individuals with asthma due to the risk of triggering an asthma attack!

So what about mince pies? Mixed peel, some brands of raisins, sultanas and cranberries contain sulphur dioxide. This includes most supermarket mince pies to ensure they can stay on the shelves for longer!

But our mince pies are free from artificial preservatives! We consciously select sun-dried fruits and fresh ingredients. We make our own orange peel candied with Demerara sugar to create a richness of flavour.
