Webheath History – Webheath Then & Now

Ian Preece and Richard Freail received many requests for the history display created for the Webheath Village Hall 100th Anniversary in June to be made available for viewing again. The Village Hall has kindly agreed to host us on SATURDAY 14th NOVEMBER 2026 at 1-45PM. On this occasion, in addition to the display, there will be a presentation.

The programme will be:

1-45pm: Doors open

2-00pm: Webheath Then & Now – shown on the large screen. A photo tour of Webheath with images of ‘Then’ (100 – 130 years ago) compared to ‘Now’.

3-00pm: Tea and Coffee served (free but there will be a donations box for village hall)

3-00pm: The previous display boards with numerous old photos and newspaper/magazine cuttings showing the history of Webheath over the last 130 years will be available for viewing. We are aiming to create some additional boards with unshown photos and newspaper extracts.

4-30pm: Close

There is no charge for this event and tea and coffee (and possibly biscuits?) will be available (donations box for village hall)

Parking is available at the village hall.

Photo is a view of Foxlydiate village looking along Birchfield Road towards Bromsgrove. On the left are Boxnott Cottages, facing is Foxlydiate Farmhouse, on the right nearest the camera is the old Post Office and, jutting out into the road, The Fox & Goose Pub. All of the buildings are still standing today, other than the pub which was demolished after WW2. The photo dates from the early 1900s.
