Finally the needle is moving forwards 🥰
So after lots & lots of hospital visits, admissions and tests I have been formally diagnosed with PoTS Syndrome (Postural Tachycardia Syndrome) which is a chronic condition (sadly no cure) where your heart rate increases abnormally fast after you sit or stand up, mine will sometimes raise 30+ beats upon just standing & 50+ beats with any bending, stretching high or any light exertion eg vacuuming, walking up stairs, lifting a washing basket, it can go up as high as 175bpm which then makes me feel extremely unwell with awful symptoms & I have to physically lay down to bring everything back under control but then leaves my whole body feeling like I’ve ran a marathon fast. Currently I’m a bit wobbly on my feet & also unable to stand static for long without feeling extremely lightheaded, sick and unwell, so standing in any form of queues is awful I found that out the other day 🙈👎🏻.
It is a form of dysautonomia, meaning the autonomic nervous system which controls "automatic" functions like heart rate, blood pressure, and digestion is not working properly.
Unfortunately alongside this I also have 2 heavily degenerated & bulging discs in my upper cervical spine causing me a lot of nerve compression & pain which is aggravating & exacerbating all my PoTS symptoms & also triggering my Hemiplegic Migraines to which I’ve had 4 since the end of January.
My life the past 2 months has been completely flipped upside down and become quite stressful & debilitating. I’m currently not able to work, drive, walk much or go anywhere on my own & has become somewhat isolating but I’m determined to build myself back up and become strong again with time. I’ve still got a way to go and many hospital & specialist appts to attend over the next few weeks/months but I’m hoping that once I’m on the right path that I can finally see some light to what feels like a never ending tunnel.
