Unfortunately I'm still poorly so I've not been baking as much as I would like, but I made an exception and did these cupcakes (swipe to see the others) for my lovely hairdresser. I'm happy to say she loved them! 😀❤️

I'm sharing this photo with, unfortunately, great sadness. Although my ill health has made me pause cake making I was only too happy to make this cake for one of my oldest friends, Chris. She sadly had cancer but when I was asked if I could make her a very chocolatey birthday cake for this October I jumped at the chance. I'm pleased to say she loved it, which I'm so happy about, but I'm sharing it now because in the future, when I look through old posts, it will make me smile with a bittersweet memory of my smashing friend, who always loved my cakes and was an excellent tester for flavours and new techniques I'd try. She was so kind to everyone, someone you could rely on and trust, and she was the greatest company, and I'm devastated the world has lost such a wonderful human.

I've been poorly for quite a while so I've not been baking as much, but I made sure I was tip top to make this cake for a lovely lady who had missed two birthdays due to lockdowns (so I knew the cake had to be special 😊). Cath chose a lemon sponge with fresh, seedless raspberry puree and gin drizzled on each level, along with fresh lemon buttercream, then all covered with fondant and decorated with a hundred, gold lustered, hand made made sugar flowers and a 24 carat gold collar on both tiers. It went down a treat at the party so I'm very happy indeed 😊

It's that time of year again and my son is now 14 years old! (well, technically he's 14 next week but his party is tonight 😊) He'll have yet another cake next week, on his actual birthday, but for his party he wanted something sophisticated and mature so I hope I understood the assignment 😉
(Forgot to say it's chocolate sponge with salted caramel buttercream and just buttercream on the outside in two colours with gold highlights and sugar spear decorations.)

I nearly forgot to post about Simon's birthday! It was a lovely day and he requested my marzipan and chocolate cake so I was happy to oblige! He likes his cakes to be simple, so I kept it straightforward with gold polka dots and lots of chocolate ganache 😊

Lockdown might have stopped my ovens from doing much but it'll always kick back in for my family 😍 I made this Madagascan Bourbon vanilla sponge with pink, white chocolate ganache, two tier cake for my daughter's birthday 😊❤️ have a wonderful day, darling!
