Tada! In amongst the gloom that is today I bring you a ray of tartan sunshine! My first attempt at sewing wool with another version of the hinterland dress. Very different from my Frida.

I got the full bust adjustment nailed…although I did it on my mannequin so didn’t adjust the pattern for future use as I should have 😜 I also caught the back of the bodice a couple of times but have now fixed that - no biggie - and I’m all ready with a crazily warm dress that I can fit all my other clothes under so we can not put the heating on till November 🤭 I’m a little bit chuffed with this one!

THE McCalls M7969 dress that every sewist seems to have made this summer - it says winter to me so i used this viscose crepe from and couldn’t be happier with the result! There’s a full length version which I think I might try but perhaps size down as the fit is very generous. I also didn’t add inseam pockets for some insane reason but it would pain me me too much to cut out my French seams now!

This was a rush summer sew for my holiday too and I’m still not happy with the fit! The shearing was ok but somehow the panel ended up HUGE and then the straps were still too long once I’d sewn them into the bodice so I had to adjust.

It still bulges across the buttons over the bust but I just don’t think it was designed for a FULL bust 😜 the instructions from were fairly vague so that might explain my struggles!

Still a lovely cotton fabric from and with some adjustments I think very wearable?

One of my summer makes for holiday…which I inexplicably forgot to take on holiday (?!?) - seen from a lovely cotton linen from using the Charlie kaftan in view A.

It’s my second effort at this pattern and I’m really pleased with the French seams I achieved everywhere but the neckline is just not right still - I think it’s about the interfacing so will maybe use a much much lighter one next time!

My first effort at trousers! Made using pattern and a green linen fabric from . My first attempt at was stressful and a bit wobbly but I did choose a contrasting thread so it was inevitable 🤣

They’re lovely and roomy but weirdly tight on the knees when I sit down so might grade the leg a bit wider next time…like I know how to do that 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’m a little stalled on the quilt project due to the huge amount of hand sewing required and how much my hands hurt ALL THE TIME at the moment but have an end of July deadline so will share soon!

Pauli has GROWN!! He is even more magnificent than I imagined and soooo easy to look after that I think I prefer him to my kids...well ok, maybe just the cats...they have brought in 5 mice in the last 7 days so 🤷🏻‍♀️
