We’ve been doing a tart special every Saturday of late. So, in the wake of the Northern S’more, please allow me to bore you with all the gubbins we’ve packed inside this one for tomorrow.

•Our all the butter sweet pastry shell.

•A big old helping of dulce de leche (that simply put, is condensed milk cooked slowly until it caramelises and turns super fudgy)

•Then we went and made a really dark caramel before adding Bramley apples and stewing down to a puree which we enriched with some brown butter, lemon and vanilla. Into that we’ve added loads of finely sliced Granny Smith apples for freshness and texture.

•A Madeira rich custard tops the lot before being sprinkled with a slightly salted cinnamon streusel.

•On tomorrow from 9:30, if you all like it we’ll probably do it again next Saturday too.

Last week one of our ace regulars Ryan asked Stuart to box up 4 custard tarts for collection at 08:10am. A rather specific time but it turns out it was just before he got his taxi to the airport.

Under Ryan’s stewardship they arrived safely 4741 miles away in Portland, Oregon and were later shared with friends.

We have listened and rightfully understand some of you don’t want to head down without knowing if your favourite is on the counter.

The page is updated daily each morning to reflect what we have on to offer. There’s a bit on there about timings too so if you’re wanting a custard tart, a bacon butty or a lunchtime sandwich be sure to check when they hit the counter and avoid disappointment.

We almost didn’t make this for lack of a name but it’s been christened ‘The Northern S’more’

Gooooood Evening!

If you didn’t know, we’ve been away for a whole week.

Some of us have travelled with the family, one of us has had a baby! and some of us have chilled, enjoying the weather and a little rest and recuperation.

If you’ve missed our butties, our breads or our bakes, we’ve missed you too!
