Hi, 2 weeks on Friday for our annual festival!! (Approx 5 minutes from J3 on M65) Please keep your fingers crossed for us to have good weather!

We look forward to seeing you on either Friday or Saturday or even both! Great event if you just want to chill with friends, or you are interested in your child joining one of our Scouting groups, or want to do a bit of shopping, celebrate the kings Birthday, enjoy some food and drinks.

We have decided to do an Open Mic/Jam for both evenings and would love to hear/see you participate - maybe you're just starting out, or it's just a hobby, or you're trying to find an audience to play to?

And on the Saturday we will have plenty of stalls so please come along and support all the stallholders as well as 1st Hoghton Scouts group, we have people travelling from all over so it's going to be a good weekend.

Dereck Lacey is family, Jess' ex father-in-law but Jess has remained close to the Lacey's and we just want to be able to help relieve the burden on the rest of the family.

Right, the day is nearly here! 1st Hoghton - Holy Trinity - Scout Group have put so much time and effort into this Christmas market, please come along and support us!

Cost of living.... just wow!!

I had a couple of requests for this week (which I am doing at quoted price), all I factored in was the extra cost for electric.

Stork has gone up 48%!!!! From £2.20 to £3.25!! Caster sugar has gone up 12.5% from £1.60 to £1.80... and everything else has gone up too.

So when you ask around for quotes from independents, please don't think they're trying to rip you off!

To give you an idea. Last year 50 cupcakes at COST price (boxed, electric, ingredients etc) worked out at 40p a cupcake. Today you're looking at about £0.80... £40 for £50 cupcakes. And that's making 0 profit!

My health has detiorated further so won't be returning to baking anyway but unfortunately I'm going to have to say no to friends too, I do it for nothing (or like £5 which kinda covers delivery anyway) and it really does cause me considerable pain... but I cannot bring myself to use cheap ingredients, so as bad as it may be to say this, you'd definitely be better off buying shop bought!

It's Theo's birthday party today. He asked for an among us cake.

Theo is beyond happy with it! And Dave has just held his hand out to me and said "£30 please" 🙄 remind me to ask around for quotes in future 😅

Dave still makes a few cakes for good friends. He was going to do this yesterday, ready for this morning but had a very very bad day and could barely move from the sofa!

Still struggling today but he has managed to come out with this masterpiece... and he is happy with it!

I was speechless too! A full size doll, bottom half wrapped in cling film so the birthday girl gets a whole doll. Rainbow sponge. And the skirt is made of rice crispies and marshmallows!

Jess here... Dave is currently in hospital with suspected heart attack issues, he's "ok"... as in he was ordered by GP to go to hospital, however he has been admitted and they are running various checks and tests so as much as he says he's fine, his body is saying otherwise.

I know he took a step back from baking due to other health factors, and was potentially looking at doing the business on a smaller scale, however I might take this upon me to decide that baking can just be his hobby as it used to be.

Thank you for the support you all showed him, sorry it was short and sweet... but I need my husband for many more years to come, and his heart is clearly giving him warning signs.
