Our shop is packed with all our final days baking - a huge thanks to the bakery staff who have now finished their work here for the last time. We’ve even got Christmas cakes, puddings and mince pies & gateaux for your freezer so you can enjoy a final Rays Christmas! Lots of special offers and still most of our products are available so get here before 4!

Thank you to the mystery customer who sent these flowers on the eve of our last day of baking, and to everyone else who has sent cards and kind words. It is lovely to know how much the bakery means to so many people and I’m sure it will be a very emotional day on Saturday. It is not only Michele who is retiring but our cake decorator for the last 34 years - Christine - is also filling the cream cakes for the last time. The staff have worked so hard to fill the shelves this week and we have made many of the old favourites too, and there will be plenty of special offers particularly in the deli department

Rays will be closing the door on 1st October for the last time as it is time for Michele to retire....but after a full refurbishment the shop will reopen as Chatwins some time in November. Before we close we will have many of our old favourites available, including our wonderful Christmas cake and puddings, mince pies, fancies, parkin and gateaux you can freeze for Christmas. We would like to thank all our customers for their support over the years and the staff look forward to seeing you again in the new Chatwins bakery and coffee shop. Our Allerton shop will close on 24th September and reopen (as Chatwins) a few weeks later.

We’re one of the few bakeries to still make traditional Christmas Bunloaf - a spicy fruit bread/cake, which some people serve with butter but it’s moist enough without. It’s a difficult product to make, but this year we’ve made our best ever mix! They are in both our shops & are £8.50, so call in soon to get yours!
