Hello everyone!
I thought it was about time I introduced myself properly and let you all get to know the face behind the celebration cakes!
I’m Dorothy, and honestly, life is pretty hectic, to say the least! It feels like I never stop, but hand on heart, I wouldn’t have it any other way. 🤎
Recently, the celebration cakes have been flying out the door, and I genuinely cannot put into words how grateful and thankful I am for every single order, recommendation, share and lovely message. I never, ever imagined I would become this busy, and seeing people trust me to be even a small part of their special occasions means more to me than you’ll ever know. 🥹🎂
Behind all the eggs, butter, flour and sugar, I’m also juggling two jobs, one of which involves working nightshifts (so if I look like the walking dead some days, you now know why! 🙈😂). Alongside that, I’m a wife to my husband Tyreece, a mechanic who usually comes home covered in grease with an oil trail following him, and a mammy to our two beautiful wee girls, Bella-Rose and Dolly-Mae.
I also run The Twa Quines Bake’s alongside my sister, which is another little venture that means so much to us! Between our baking, my celebration cake orders, two jobs, family life, school runs and keeping a house running, there really aren’t enough hours in the day. 😂🤎
And honestly, if it wasn’t for my wee support system, I wouldn’t be able to do any of this. ❤️ Whether it’s the people who help with the girls, give me a hand when life gets a bit too hectic, encourage me, share my posts, recommend my cakes or simply check in on me, I appreciate every single one of them more than words can say. It really does take a village sometimes, and I’m so thankful to have the people I do around me. None of this would be possible without them, and I’ll never take that for granted. 🥹🤎
But my little family is my biggest reason for doing what I do. Everything I’m working towards, every late night, every early morning and every bit of effort I put into my baking is for them and the future we hope to build together. ❤️
Baking has always been a part of my life. I remember standing around my granny’s kitchen table and watching my mam in the kitchen, learning little things along the way — probably making more mess than actually helping! 😂🤎 Back then, I never imagined that something I grew up loving would eventually become something of my own.
I’m completely self-taught when it comes to cake decorating, and I’m still learning, practising and trying new things every chance I get. Every cake teaches me something, and I absolutely love seeing an idea come to life, from the first mix of the batter right through to the finishing touches.
What started as a love for baking for my own family has grown into something I’m so proud of. There’s something so special about being trusted with a birthday cake, a little one’s first birthday, an anniversary or another important family celebration. I know these occasions mean so much to people, and I never take it for granted that someone chooses me to help make their day that wee bit more special. 🥰
I’m not a big bakery with a fancy shop or a huge team behind me. I’m just a busy mammy, working hard, baking away in my wee kitchen and trying to build something of my own around family life. Some days are organised chaos, some days I’m running on very little sleep, and some days there’s flour everywhere — but there’s always a whole lot of love going into what I make!
My dream is to keep growing, keep learning, keep creating cakes I’m proud of and hopefully build something that my girls can look back on one day and be proud of their mammy for. 🤎
