⏰ Time is almost up… nominations for the Cake & Bake Awards close this week!

Last year we were absolutely honoured to be finalists for Wedding Cake Artist and Best Product. We didn’t bring home the trophies, but just being alongside so many incredibly talented cake artists was a huge privilege.

Meet Dave (as I called him)

Every so often a cake commission comes in and I think… yessss, let’s do this! 😍

This one was made for David in the New Forest, who celebrated his 80th birthday yesterday.

David collects teddy bears and this vintage chap, Chef Bearnaise, originally from America, is one of his favourites. So what better way to celebrate a special birthday than with your favourite bear… made in cake! 🧸

He was created using an internal structure with coffee and vanilla sponge tucked inside, covered with ganache and finished with Saracino Pasta Cover.

These are the sort of cakes I absolutely love creating. They always have a story behind them and bring back so many memories for the person receiving them.

And a big thank you to my brave sister, who drove all the way up and then safely transported him down to Beaulieu for the party.

Happy 80th, David… and I hope you had the best birthday!

Just a little bit of dusting and a touch of colour can completely transform your sugar roses and bring them to life.

It's amazing how those final little details add depth, softness and make the petals look so much more realistic.
