Let’s talk about common problems our clients face that we make disappear.
The biggest by far is the fear of the unknown.
‘What if they ask me loads of questions’?
‘What if I don’t know what I want’?
You don’t need to know everything (that’s our job), we just need a simple starting point.
The occasion, a colour scheme, theme or just a little about the person who it’s for, gives us a great starting point allowing us to then guide you from there.
Next up, the size debate.
We’ve all seen the posts recently where someone asks for a ‘normal size’ cake, or ‘the same as the picture’ only to be made to feel stupid.
It’s true that you can’t tell the size by a picture, (especially the AI ones) but as a baker, with many years under my belt, there’s always tell tail signs or a simple question that resolves this issue without the embarrassment.
Another is feeling uneasy about making payment, especially if you can’t make it into our shop.
We hear you, so we upgraded our card machine to allow us to send a secure pay by link straight to your phone. No reading our card number out, know one looking over your shoulder, you activate the link when your ready and we get a message when payment is received. ✔️
Last one for now is, what do you do when it comes to collection or delivery?
Cakes are expensive, delicate works of art so we understand when feeling nervous picking them up from the shop.
But what about what comes after that? Getting it secured in the car, driving carefully to the venue, getting it back out of the car, up the steps, through the door, to the room, out the box and finally safely onto the stand or display…..(your sweating just thinking about it). Not to mention the time involved when you’re attending the party and still need to get ready yourself. 😱
Too stressful, too much at risk, too little time….
Not too much for us.
(Plus if something does go wrong, we have the experience to fix it, so no need to make a tearful phone call or mad dash back to the shop).
What other parts of the cake ordering process do you worry about?
