My name is Oyin and I struggled with my self esteem as a teenager, and had to deal with a lot more issues than most teenager do. Thankfully, I was able to do practical things to navigate that season of my life. Having worked with young people for more than 20 years, I have seen first hand some of the struggles they go through and have been able to help a lot of young people navigate through these

challenges. I’m a certified life coach specialising in youth resilience and confidence building. I have helped parents thrive in their parenting journey and I am looking forward to helping you too.

Michael Jackson’s life got me thinking...

We celebrate greatness.

The trophies.
The records.
The standing ovations.

But greatness often comes with a hidden cost.

Michael became one of the most successful entertainers in history.
Yet much of his adult life seemed marked by a longing for the childhood he never had.

It raises an important question for parents:
Are we raising successful children...
Or healthy adults?

Achievement matters.
Excellence matters.

But our children need to know they are loved for who they are, not just for what they do.

Because the goal isn’t to choose between happiness and success.

It’s to help our children achieve without losing themselves in the process.
Think about it.

One of the biggest parenting mistakes is assuming that what worked at 8 will work at 18.

As children grow, the parenting relationship has to grow too.

The goal was never to raise a child who obeys you forever. The goal is to raise a young person who still wants to talk to you when they no longer have to.

That’s why the teenage years require a different kind of influence—less control, more conversation; less commanding, more connecting.

The parents who stay connected through adolescence aren’t necessarily the softest parents. They’re the ones who made the relationship a priority long before it was tested.

Quick question...

What would change if you made more space for yourself?

As parents, we're often at the bottom of our own priority list. But the truth is, when we look after ourselves, everybody benefits.

My latest blog explores why self-care isn't selfish and how investing in your wellbeing can positively impact your children too.

Read it here 👉 https://kiro.coach/blog/parental-wellbeing-benefits-children/

Parental wellbeing matters more than many parents realise. How prioritising your health and mental wellbeing can positively impact your children and family life.

Episode 14 is live 🎙️💛

Dear Mum, Wait a Minute, I Need You Too

So many mums spend their lives caring for everyone else while quietly neglecting themselves.

In this episode of Keeping It Real with Oyin, we talk to a mum who went from the busy world of education and constantly pouring into others… to becoming a fitness coach who finally learned to prioritise herself too.

This is a conversation about burnout, motherhood, self-neglect, and the reminder that mums matter too.

Because you cannot keep pouring from an empty cup.

Strict parents, let’s talk obedience and order.

Are we actually teaching obedience or demanding compliance?
Does obedience automatically produce wisdom? 🤔

In Episode 9 of Strictly for Strict Parents, we’re talking about obedience, order, and how to raise children who understand the value behind the rules—not just follow them.
