At the beginning of this month a delegation of Scottish oyster farmers were invited to the National Shellfish Salon in Vannes, France - Isle of Mull Oysters, Isle of Barra Oysters, Creran Oysters, Cape Wrath Oysters and ourselves.
It is the place to go when you are looking at new machinery, systems and equipment. I’d spent €30,000 in the first hour!! (In my head of course, not out of my wallet)
Marie-Anne of Seafood Scotland organised our programme of farm and industry visits and made sure we were where we supposed to be! We had a fabulous few days and then a visit to the seafood market at Le Rungis in Paris, said to be the largest food market in the world - it was quite incredible!! Again organised by Seafood Scotland, there were sellers of seafood from all over Scotland for ‘La Nuit de l’Ecosse’ and it was lovely to see my friend from Perth Farmers’ Market days there - Jim Fairlie, Minister of Agriculture, Marine and the Islands.
A great celebration of friendship and trade between the two countries.
