I've been catching up with my Art Cards for the Turning Year after a summer that turned out to be far too busy to document while I was actually living it.

Four new cards mark turning 50, the Buck Moon, Lughnasadh and this week's extraordinary eclipse and Perseid skies.

They're over on my website as part of the ongoing Art Cards for the Turning Year project — but I've also written something a little more personal on Substack about turning 50, friendship and family, my grandfather's funeral, the strange coincidence of the Tears of St Lawrence… and why sometimes you really do have to live it first.

A Velvet Frog for France

Sometimes a project is simply about making something because you can’t stop thinking about it. New Moon | Taking the Scenic Route

I missed making my New Moon card yesterday. For a moment I was frustrated with myself, but then I realised this personal practice isn’t about perfect timing. It’s about taking a moment to pause, reflect and create. Frogs have been very much on my mind recently. Last weekend I spent a wonderful day at a Mr Finch workshop learning to make one of his delightful textile frogs, and as I’m about to head off to France to visit my Auntie Jane—who has a long-standing love of frogs—this little creature seemed like the perfect choice for this New Moon card....
