Let me answer another question that lands in my inbox almost daily.… “Kerry, where do you get your cupcake boxes from?”

Well, if you didn’t already know, my husband runs Box Your Bouqcakes

These really are the best boxes for floral cupcakes, the perfect spacing, extra height, and strong enough to keep my cupcakes safe.

I wouldn’t put my cupcakes in anything else!

Box Your Bouqcakes actually came about 6 years ago because we couldn’t find boxes on the market that were designed properly for buttercream flowers. So we created our own. 🌸☺️

One of my favourite (and most debated!) topics over the years…the buttercream to cake ratio 😂🎂

It’s something we all seem to have an opinion on! And here’s a little secret… many of the flowers I pipe actually contain far less buttercream than they look.

Take this butterfly ranunculus for example 🌸

Watch me cut into it and tell me… is this an acceptable buttercream to cake ratio for you? 😂😘

I’m pretty sure the opinions will be divided, and that’s absolutely okay! 😂

Let’s talk about social media fatigue. If it’s not an official term amongst small business owners, it definitely should be! 😂

After 9 years in business, I’ve watched countless trends come and go, algorithms change and organic reach decline. Some days it feels impossible to keep up, especially when only a tiny percentage of my followers actually see what I post.

Every now and then I consider moulding myself into the latest trend… but I always come back to being authentically me, sharing what I love and what I’ve worked so hard to build. 🩷

9 years down the line and I’m still here. 😘

What if I told you my first attempts at buttercream flowers were a complete disaster? 😂

I had no idea what I was doing. I didn’t understand colours, technique or even which way up to hold a piping tip! I was completely clueless.

But what I lacked in ability, I made up for with determination, a love of baking and the hope that I might get better.

Because we all start somewhere. Sometimes we’re so scared of being a beginner that we don’t give ourselves the chance to try.

But there’s something so beautiful about learning something new, being creative and completely losing yourself in the process. 🧡

I’ll never stop challenging myself to create new and unique colour palettes. 🧡💛

Believe it or not, I didn’t always have a natural eye for colour. I truly believe some people have that instinct naturally, while others learn it through practice and experience.

After 9 years in business, I’m proud to say I’ve developed a really strong eye for colour, shading and the combinations that bring my buttercream flowers to life.

Let’s just say….some of my early colour choices were questionable at best! 😂

It’s amazing to look back and see just how much you can learn, grow and develop with time, practice and a little patience. 🧡

Today has been one of those lovely days that makes me feel incredibly grateful. 🧡

I’ve spent the day working in the kitchen with my Mummy, and it got me thinking about just how much she has been part of the Kerry’s Bouqcakes journey.

She has been by my side since day one, my biggest cheerleader, my constant support and the person quietly doing so much behind the scenes to help keep everything running smoothly.

After 9 years of Kerry’s Bouqcakes, I know one thing for certain… I simply couldn’t have balanced, juggled and built all of this without her unwavering support.

So, thank you Mumma. 🧡 For everything you do, everything you have done, and for always believing in me.
