A brand shoot isn’t really about the photos.
The photos are the end result, of course but the most important part usually happens before I even open my camera bag.

👉🏼 We spend time thinking about your business.
👉🏼 What you do day to day.
👉🏼 What you want people to understand about you when they land on your website or social media

From there we start shaping the photoshoot around that story. We think about the location, the details you need to prepare and the kinds of moments we should aim to capture.

It means the images aren’t random but they reflect your business, your personality and the way you work.
When that part is clear, the photos tend to feel much more natural too 👏🏼

If you’ve been thinking about brand photography for your business, I’m always happy to talk things through and help you figure out what might work best 📸

I am very late in posting a little July round up. July was one of those months that reminds me why I love what I do.

A few highlights include photographing:

🚶 The Norfolk Heritage Open Days launch, with another fascinating walking tour led by History Holly Days and facilited by the team at The Forum Norwich.

🦋 Science on Your Doorstep: Bugs and Beasts, capturing families enjoying everything from pond dipping and crafts to face painting in one of Norwich’s parks, also facilited by fab team at The Forum Norwich.

📸 The first official Stripe Community Norwich event at Fuel Studios Norwich, bringing local freelancers together. Thanks for having me Kieran Ball

🎲 The launch of See It, Be It by Rebecca Atkinson, a brilliant board game celebrating the diverse careers of deaf adults.

💍 Two beautifully intimate weddings - one a North Norfolk elopement (which I can’t share just yet!) and another at Norwich Castle. With just two witnesses at each ceremony, it was a real privilege to play such a small part in two incredibly special days.

Every month is different, and that’s one of the things I enjoy most. One day I’m photographing a business community event, the next I’m documenting a public engagement project, and then quietly capturing one of the biggest moments in a couple’s lives.

A small selection of projects I’ve had the pleasure of working on throughout June. From AI conferences to awards ceremonies, family portraits, artists and purpose-led organisations, it’s been another wonderfully varied month.

Some highlights included photographing inaugural Gather Awards at the The Forum Norwich , celebrating some incredibly talented people. It was especially rewarding to see Norfolk Museums Pass: Access All Eras by the Norfolk Museum Service win the Brand Growth Award after having the pleasure of photographing the campaign.

I also travelled from Norfolk to Brighton to photograph Create With ’s annual AI conference, documented a wonderful family I’ve had the privilege of photographing over the past four years, captured the energy and joy of Magic Acorns in Great Yarmouth, photographed all the fun at Tropic annual staff away day, and worked with talented artist Claire Coles - Handmade Wallpapers and Artworks to showcase her beautiful mixed-media wallpaper collection in a rose garden.

No two months are ever the same, and that’s one of the things I love most about what I do. Every assignment brings new people, new stories and new opportunities to create images that help preserve memories or communicate what makes a person, organisation or event unique.

Thank you to everyone who invited me along to tell a small part of your story this month.

Well this is exciting! I’ve been shortlisted as Freelancer of the Year for the East Anglian Marketing Awards !

It’s such a lovely boost, especially when I’m up against such a talented group of people. I’ve had the pleasure of photographing awards ceremonies over the years, so to now find myself on a shortlist for something it feels really special.

Congrats to all the other nominees Chloe Daniels Xandrina Allday Kizzy Beckett Jack P. Sean Carr Will George Thomas Pawley Rebecca Dack Emily Saint-Ablett

Thank you to founder Grace Appleby and the shortlisting judges. Looking forward to seeing if I become a finalist!

Over the years, both as a business owner and as someone who hires creatives myself, I’ve realised something 👇🏼

The best photography rarely comes from a quick, last-minute booking.

It usually comes from working with people over time.
The businesses and agencies I work best with tend to care deeply about how their brand shows up. They see photography as part of the bigger picture, not just something to fill a space on a website or social post.
Sometimes that looks like a marketing team planning ahead for the year and wanting imagery that feels consistent across campaigns.

Sometimes it’s an agency looking for a photographer who can slot into their process and support their clients naturally.

Sometimes it’s a growing business that feels ready for imagery that reflect where they’re heading next.
What ties those projects together is usually the same thing: clarity, collaboration and a shared sense of direction 💛

When there’s trust and a bit of planning behind it, the photographs start to really support the story a business is telling!

It was such a pleasure capturing this event! If you missed it this year, don’t worry! It’s back next February half term!

It was great to work with , a Norfolk based window, doors and home improvement company. They needed a fresh set of images to showcase their friendly team and quality products. Their passion for what they do and the level of customer service they deliver really stood out. It was refreshing to see. It’s a shame I don’t need my windows replacing at as they would be the first company I’d get in touch with.
