In Darlington today?
The Great Aycliffe Cancer Support Group shop on Northgate (in the old thorntorns shop/opposite the cornmill entrance) are advocating for Breast Cancer Awareness today.
Feendish Delightshas donated cupcakes to purchase with a suggested donation of only £1.50.
All proceeds go to GACSG who provide support, travel to appointments, advice & meetings to cancer patients & their families 🩷

6” top tier - Black Forest Gateaux style; rich chocolate cake sandwiched with vanilla buttercream & Black Forest fruit conserve.
8” middle tier - Classic vanilla sponge layered with vanilla buttercream & strawberry conserve.
10” bottom tier - Rich cake with chocolate fudge frosting.
All smothered with white chocolate ganache, wrapped with pale ivory sugarpaste.
Detailed with gorgeous pastel faux flowers & dried grasses for a classic timeless look 🥰

Where have I been?

In March 2023 after a routine mammogram, I was diagnosed with invasive ductal breast cancer.
I’ve since had surgery & radiotherapy and I’m taking ongoing medication.
My first annual mammogram review has been and gone with no signs of reoccurrence 😊

I’m sure you can imagine that this was a huge curveball to my life & impacted my mental health, as well as my physical health obviously, massively. I’m thankful to North Tees Breast Unit for their speedy response to the cancer, the breast cancer nurses for their ongoing support, my husband, kids and family & the handful of friends who have been by my side almost every day.

So, if you get that letter inviting you to have a mammogram, PLEASE, please attend. I had zero sign or changes that ever gave me cause for concern, even with regular personal checks! If I hadn’t have gone & put up with 5 minutes of uncomfortableness, I would never have known, and this status could have been completely different.

Take it easy guys!
