Did you know the story behind our delicious Cornish Hevva Cake?

It's a tale of tradition and community! In the days of the Cornish pilchard industry, a "huer" would stand on the cliffs, shouting '𝗛𝗲𝘃𝘃𝗮! 𝗛𝗲𝘃𝘃𝗮!' to signal a huge shoal of fish.
When the cry went out, the fishermen's wives would rush home to bake this special cake, ensuring a warm treat was ready for their hard-working husbands when they returned to shore.
Each cake is still scored with a criss-cross pattern to represent the fishing nets.
