⚠️ WILDFIRE & SMOKE ALERT FOR NEWPORT ⚠️

​South Wales Fire and Rescue has declared a major incident due to multiple wildfires, including a massive 400-hectare blaze near Ebbw Vale. The wind is blowing heavy smoke directly into Newport and surrounding areas.

​🚨 SAFETY ADVICE:

​🚪 Keep windows and doors closed to block out smoke.

​🏡 Stay indoors as much as possible (and bring pets inside, too).

​🫁 Take extra care if you have asthma or breathing issues, and check on vulnerable neighbors.

​🚗 Drive carefully due to low visibility and keep your car's air on recirculate.

​🚁 Do not fly drones—they interfere with emergency firefighting helicopters.

​Stay safe and please share this with family and friends in the area!
