Holding onto summer vibes with this wedding blessing cake. Loving the brightness of the sunflowers. Bottom tier was an 8inch chocolate cake, top tier was a 6inch lemon cake.

Following on my previous post, this was the finished cake. I usually take my cake pictures with a backdrop- unfortunately I wasn't able to manage it with this one (I was actually quite poorly finishing this cake and my main priority was my client getting a finished cake 🙈) This was a vanilla sponge with jam and buttercream filling, finished with a layer of buttercream, and accents of edible gold leaf!

Let's talk about transporting of cakes!!!!!
I see so many disasters after people haven't followed a cake makers advice on how to transport cakes.
I transported the cake in the below picture over 300 miles for a delivery, it arrived in one piece with no damages. This was managed by it being placed in the correct size cake box, with a non slip mat underneath (I always provide a piece to my clients). Cakes should always go in the boot- never on a seat, or a passengers lap, if needed a footwell is better than nothing although sometimes cakes are too wide for the footwell! The car boot should be clear of rubbish and have no other items in there. Please also take extra care when going round corners or over speed bumps. If the above is followed your cake will arrive at the destination in perfect condition!

It's been a sunflower kind of day today! The start of the process is sorting through the tangled mess of a string of sunflowers, separating them out, individually wiring them, pressing them with the iron and then creating small arrangements. It's all in the preparation! Watch out for the final product in a few weeks 😉

When the birthday girl is having a mermaid swimming party, and actually getting to swim with a mermaid, the only sort of cake that will do is Mermaid inspired! and what's more, I got to see the birthday girl blow her candles out, and also managed to get a 'cake guts' photo!
