VAT's The Problem 🍻🍽️

We're supporting the ‘VAT’s The Problem’ campaign on behalf of our town centre hospitality businesses.

On 1st July, hospitality businesses from across the UK are coming together to call for a reduction in VAT from 20% to 10%, helping businesses facing rising costs and ongoing economic pressures.

A 10% VAT rate would:

✅ Support pubs, restaurants, cafés, hotels and other hospitality businesses
✅ Encourage investment in jobs, staff and customer experience
✅ Help protect and strengthen our high streets and local economies
✅ Support the long-term sustainability of the hospitality sector

Hospitality plays a vital role in Newcastle-under-Lyme's economy, creating jobs, attracting visitors and contributing to a vibrant town centre.

An update re: the Midway development from Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council 👇

Work is set to restart at the Midway development as soon as possible 🚧

We’re working closely with Capital & Centric and partners to get construction moving again, after a temporary pause last week when remains were found during excavation work.

The Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Coroner’s Service has confirmed there are no suspicious circumstances, and police have now handed the site back.

Our priority throughout has been to make sure the remains were treated with dignity and respect. Behind the scenes, planning has continued so work can safely move forward.

This is a landmark project that will transform the former car park into 110 new homes, playing a big part in the future of our town centre.

Lymelight Festivall 2026 was a record-breaking event for us, with an estimated total engagement of over 17k people across the weekend. Last year the festival delivered a 62% uplift on Saturday and 88% on Sunday. This year, that increased to 87% and 117%, showing a significantly stronger impact.🙌
