The next six months are going to bring about Teddy Bears Bakes 2.0 🤎 time to really drill down what I want to achieve from this business and what I can focus on for growth.

Proud of myself for having faith in my business and now is the time to love it even more sharing that success with other like-minded people 🤎

SEPTEMBER, I AM COMING FOR YOU 🤎

I’m not even home from holiday yet and somehow I’ve already planned THIS for the Compton Cake Cupboard next weekend from my sun lounger 😂

I land Tuesday night, then apparently I’ll be heading straight back into the kitchen because LOOK at that menu 😍

Brownies, blondies, cookies, Rocky Road, School Cake, flapjack AND Cookie Dough Pots.

And there’s a little change from this weekend too…

People love to say “it isn’t all sunshine and rainbows” when you run a small business and honestly? They are correct 😂

It’s 2am baking sessions when normal people are asleep. It’s flour in places flour should never be. It’s your kitchen looking like a crime scene at 11pm on a Tuesday. It’s refreshing your sales page seventeen times and wondering if the WiFi is broken or if genuinely nobody wants brownies today (they do, they’re just late 🤣).

It’s burning your arm on the oven for the fourth time this week and still not learning where the hot bit is. It’s forgetting sneeze guards when you are at a pop up. It’s prepping 60 bakes for a pop up and then panicking that you’ve made too many. Or not enough. Or the wrong ones entirely.

BUT THEN.

Someone messages you to say your lemon drizzle made their whole week. A little kid waves at the Cake Cupboard like it’s Disneyland. You sell out before lunchtime and have to do the awkward “sorry I have literally nothing left” post. You get to bake for a LIVING. In your own kitchen. On your own terms. With your bearcub doing homework at the table while the whole house smells like brownies.

So yeah. It isn’t all sunshine and rainbows.

It’s mostly sunshine and rainbows with a bit (alot) of chaos, some questionable time management and an unreasonable amount of butter 🤎☀️

So… I may have double booked myself for Tuesday 🤦🏼‍♀️🤣

Two pop ups. One me. One of them 40 minutes away. Even I can’t be in two places at once (although honestly I have probably tried).

The flyers that went round Kingfisher Court said Tuesday. That was me being optimistic about my own ability to exist as one human person. Classic.

Thing is, when you do everything yourself and your brain runs on AuDHD chaos mode, there’s nobody going “Catherine… you muppet, you put two things on the same day again.” No buddy system. No second pair of eyes. Just me, my phone calendar that I forgot to check, and pure misplaced confidence to say yes I will absolutely be there 🫣

And I reckon that’s actually fine? Like, yes obviously it is a mess. But I don’t have the mechanisms in place yet and I’m building this around a very real, very tired, very unfiltered life. Sometimes the details go out wrong. Sometimes I forget what day I said. It doesn’t mean the bakes aren’t banging, it just means the admin is feral 😂 considering I was doing admin for 20 odd years makes me wonder what the hell I was doing!

I’ll be at Kingfisher Court on THURSDAY instead 🤎

Same bakes. Same chaos. Just a different day. If you received a flyer saying Tuesday, please ignore that version of me. Thursday me has it slightly more together. Slightly.

So I posted that carousel this morning… "Things I tell myself when I've had one customer all day" and honestly I expected a few of you to relate and that would be that.

Instead you lot actually turned up 😭🤎

We came back from being out and half the cake cupboard was GONE. Because you beautiful humans came out and supported a one-woman micro bakery off the back of a silly carousel post. I genuinely wasn't posting it for sympathy or to guilt anyone into buying, it was just me being honest about what running a small business actually looks like some days. The quiet ones. The ones where you question everything.

But then THIS happened and I am still a bit in shock if I'm honest 🤣

The cupboard is now fully restocked and loaded with:
🤎 Deep filled lemon & white chocolate cookies
🤎 Oreo deep filled cookie (1 left)
🤎 Reese's brownies
🤎 School cake (because yes, it needed to make a comeback)
