Food for thought

Zachary Moon was raised in a Quaker Meeting full of anti-war protesters. Then he felt God calling him to join the military as a chaplain. In the following months and years he had to wrestle with that leading and the response of his family and community.

πŸ“What a day we had last Wednesday!

We hosted a migration roundtable that brought together diverse perspectives and areas of expertise to explore the intersection of migration, peace, and security.

πŸ” Our speakers (Baptiste Amieux, Catherine Woollard and Naghmeh Sobhani) helped us unpack how these domains overlap and how we can move beyond securitization frameworks toward migration governance that builds peaceful societies.

We explored:

β†’ How does Europe's growing focus on migration through a lens of security and control risk undermining human rights?

β†’ How can peacebuilding and resilience frameworks help mitigate these risks?

β†’ How can institutions translate principles of positive peace - inclusion, justice, structural equity - into the technical, often security-driven language of migration governance?

β†’ What role can dialogue and collaboration tools play in shaping humane migration policies?

πŸ’¬ Our closing reflections were delivered by Eugenia Gyamfi and focused on Europe's challenge: balancing border protection with the dignity and rights of people on the move.

🀝 Huge thanks to everyone who attended and contributed. We will continue the discourse on positive peace and migration.

We hope to see you engage with our organization in the future. 🫢

You know, there’s a story about a Jewish scholar, probably the same amount of time as Jesus was, and he was challenged to recite the whole of Scripture while standing on one leg. And he stood on one leg and said, β€œ Do not do unto others what is hateful unto yourself, everything else is detail.
