Happy new year! It has been an interesting time starting up Mortimer Cakes, but the business has not become what I hoped it might. It is something I had wanted to try for a while but it turns out I would rather bake for my own enjoyment than as a business. Therefore, Mortimer Cakes has ceased trading. Thank you for your support over the past few months and I hope you enjoyed eating my cakes.

I didn't make a very big profit last weekend at Silchester Christmas market, but I donated my takings of £37 to Shelter. Thank you if you purchased a cake.

Silchester is having a special Christmas market tomorrow. I shall be selling apple and mincemeat cakes and cranberry and white chocolate, as well as the popular sticky ginger cake and lemon drizzle. All £3.50.

In case you have been deprived of cake recently, here are a few photos of some of the cakes I have been making this week. It's Silchester market this Saturday, so lots for you to choose from this week. I am offering apple cake, banana cake, lemon drizzle (inc gluten-free), plum crumble cake, raspberry and white chocolate cake and ginger cake. All are £3.50 and will be ready for collection on Friday evening or Saturday morning.

I have just taken a large order for the weekend and so I will be baking all sorts of different cakes.
