Cambridge junior parkrun

Cambridge junior parkrun junior parkrun is a series of 2km runs for children aged between 4 and 14. Cambridge junior parkrun is held at Milton Country Park every Sunday at 9am.

They are held in areas of open space around the UK. They are open to all, free, and are safe and easy to take part in. We are very friendly and want runners or walkers of all abilities to come and join us. Sign up online just once to get your barcode and bring it every week. We meet by the cafe just before 9am and finish up with tea and cakes!

Once we'd identified the strange circles of water on the course as our friendly puddles, we then had a great run. Well done to Jasper and Eloise as our first finishers and also to Ele as our last finisher completing her 10th volunteering as our tailwalker.

We go again on the 6th September and hope everyone will join us once more for their parkrun fix.

A couple of 100 milestones hit today, 100 runs for Mikhail who was also the first finisher and then also 100 volunteer credits for Keith. Well done Mikhail and thank you Keith.

Congrats to Roo and Arthur for 75 runs and Owen and Sophie for 50 with Grace completing her 10th. There were 58 runners today and 6 first timers so we hope you all enjoyed yourselves.

For all those joining us tomorrow morning please be aware the new double yellow lines have been painted and YES they do ticket people on a Sunday! Ideally please use Milton Country Park's car park as they are a charity and this is their main source of income so they appreciate all the payments that we collectively make.

Who's up for a challege this August? ⏬️ Read full post for details of offer for football fans! ⚽️

Milton Country parkrun invites junior parkrunners / volunteers who would like FREE TICKETS to Cambridge United Football matches on 15 or 29 August to join a Saturday 5k parkrun and qualify for this opportunity they've got via parkrun partner Brookes. 🥅

To be eligible, you need to run or walk the 5k parkrun (important: under 11's must be accompanied by an adult during the run for the Saturday 5k - it's not possible to go round on your own like you can on a Sunday) ️OR email [email protected] if you would like to volunteer on a Saturday (under 18's need an adult with them to volunteer).

If you'd like to try the Saturday 5k parkrun, it mainly works the same way as our Sunday 2k event, and you'll attend a First Timers' Welcome and scan your normal parkrun barcode at the finish and/or get a volunteer credit. It's very friendly, you complete it in your own time (fine to walk the whole thing) and there is a tail walker to help at the back of the pack. 🏃‍♂️ 🏃‍♀️ 🚶‍♀️ 🚶‍♂️

We do need to warn you that completing the 5k won't count towards your next junior wristband though - sorry, there's a different system for 5k milestones!

Another big Sunday morning in Milton Country Park as we had 91 official finishers plus all those adults joining in for their exercise too 😄.

A couple of big milestones to acknowledge first of all as the event can't happen without all those volunteers of which there were 28 today. There were 2 special ones though as Marcus did his 150th event and Jennifer did her 100th, thank you both for all your support 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻.

It was great to have 8 brand new first timers to parkrun, we hope you enjoyed it and come back for event no.2 next week. Keep spreading the parkrun love as we want as many young people involved as possible, plus any adults that also want to join in with them. Our 2km event is a great stepping stone before doing the 5km event on a Saturday with Milton Country parkrun.

We do it all again next Sunday and if you're not aware it is FREE, so save some holiday pennies and feel great.
