A few people have asked about the process of making the dinosaur cake, so I thought I’d share some pictures that I took during the making.
The legs and tail were both made from rice crispy treats (rice crispies and marshmallows) the body and head from chocolate cake.
All covered in a milk chocolate ganache and then fondant covered and textured using straws.
In order to create the shading I used an airbrush, this helps to bring the piece to life with light and shaded areas.
Finally I added the teeth, eyes and claws to finish him off.
He stood at about 2ft tall, and was pretty heavy too.
The stand was custom made by the lovey Peter White of Woburn Sands Clay, huge thank you to him, without the stand there would be no cake 😊

There were lots of tears, it’s always sad to say goodbye to someone you love.

What better way to get back into the swing of things than making, not one, but two cakes for your mums 70th birthday.
The naked cake had to be lemon, she was very vocal about that , so I went for a lemon Swiss meringue buttercream and lemon curd filling, sandwiched between a zesty lemon sponge.
The other was part of our surprise party that took place on Saturday, I can honestly say I’ve never seen a cake devoured so quickly!
Bottom tier vanilla, top tier chocolate.
I am pleased to say that my mum had the most wonderful time celebrating.
