What a brilliant week it’s been at Elmsleigh Cakes! 🎂✨

It started with a beautiful wedding at the stunning Master Builder’s, Buckler’s Hard. I had the pleasure of creating a delightful three-tier wedding cake, covered in lashings of luxurious Belgian white chocolate ganache and finished with beautiful fresh flowers. 🌸🤍

Then the week continued with two full days of one-to-one cake classes — and what a couple of days they were!

I had the absolute pleasure of teaching Glenda, who wanted to learn how to bake from scratch while enjoying her holiday here in Milford. We covered three different baking techniques along with lots of cake decorating skills that she can take home and put into practice.

By the end of our time together, Glenda had created:
🧁 Beautifully decorated seaside-themed cupcakes
🌸 A large, fully decorated Japanese cherry blossom and honey celebration cake
🥐 And enough freshly baked scones to feed the whole family!

And it doesn’t stop there — Glenda has new recipes to try when she gets home, and of course, she has my expertise on the phone if she needs a little help along the way! 📞❤️

And now… straight into another whirlwind week of baking! There are some very beautiful and unique celebration cakes in the making, but this week also brings something completely new for Elmsleigh Cakes…

🧙‍♀️ We’re attending the Witches Market! 🧙‍♀️

For the very first time, we’ll be at the Royal Arcade, Boscombe, on Sunday 30th August.

You honestly wouldn’t believe the wonderful selection of cakes, bakes and sweet treats that are being created ready to take along and sell. 🍰🧁🍪✨

It should be an amazing market, and with so much going on in Boscombe this weekend, it’s definitely well worth a visit!

So that’s it, guys — another crazy week at Elmsleigh Cakes! ❤️

🎃✨ WE’RE HEADING TO THE WITCH MARKET! ✨🎃

We’re incredibly excited to announce that for the very first time ever, Elmsleigh Cakes will be attending The Witch Market in Boscombe! 🧁🍰

And we’re not coming empty-handed… 👀

We’ll have LOTS of cakes and sweet treats available to buy on the day, including some of our much-loved old favourite recipes alongside some brand-new creations we’ve been developing. 💕🍪

If you’ve ever fancied trying an Elmsleigh cake but didn’t need a big celebration cake, this is your perfect opportunity! Come along, have a browse, pick up something delicious and see what we’ve been baking. 😋

And there’s even more reason to make a day of it! 🎶✨

With the Increase the Peace Festival taking place in the High Street, there’ll be live bands, entertainment and all sorts of wonderful things happening throughout Boscombe.

It’s fantastic to see Boscombe really coming together, and we’re so excited to be part of it. ❤️

Some cakes aren’t simply stacked… they’re suspended in a moment.

This design appears to defy gravity, with delicate gossamer wafer paper leaves cascading effortlessly through the air, catching the light and fluttering with the gentlest movement. Creating something that feels so impossibly light while remaining structurally sound is one of my favourite design challenges.

And then there’s the photography… ✨

Working alongside talented wedding suppliers is such an important part of bringing these creations to life, and I’m incredibly grateful to have worked with the wonderful HS Photography. Hayley has an incredible eye for storytelling, capturing the contrast between the ethereal softness of the wafer paper and the timeless strength of the stone fireplace so beautifully. It’s exactly how I imagined this cake would be seen.

Creating the illusion that this cake is floating took careful planning, precision, and a lot of handcrafted wafer paper work.

This four-tier gravity-defying cake is dressed with an ethereal cascade of delicate wafer paper foliage, bringing softness, movement, and elegance to every angle. A true centrepiece designed to leave a lasting impression.

Every detail was created to bring movement, elegance, and a touch of magic to this all-white statement piece.

Over the last two days, I’ve had the absolute pleasure of teaching a lovely student on a one-to-one cake decorating course.

She came with a very special goal – to learn how to make a beautiful birthday cake for her granddaughter and begin a new family tradition of baking her birthday cake from scratch every year.

Over the course of two days (which just happened to be the hottest days of the year! 🥵🎂), we covered everything from baking the sponge from scratch right through to stacking, decorating, and putting all the finishing touches on the cake.

At the beginning, she wasn’t sure she’d be able to do it, but with a little guidance, patience, and determination, she created the most beautiful cake. Seeing her confidence grow and the pride she felt when she saw the finished result was incredibly rewarding. She should be so proud of what she achieved – it was absolutely perfect! ❤️

I offer a range of cake decorating classes, including one-to-one tuition, small group workshops, and bespoke courses tailored to what you’d like to learn.
