Cakes on Sea Bespoke, hand-made celebration cakes for special occasions I am also happy to ice a cake baked by someone else if you prefer.

I specialise in baking and icing celebration cakes that are created to be very personal to your occasion. For example I might mirror the embroidery on a wedding dress in the piping or make sugar flowers that are the same as those in your bouquet. I made a cake for Emma's Dad last year, and now it was his partner Lil's turn for a big birthday. I had a very particular request for a chocolate sponge covered in chocolate buttercream. On top is Lil herself in her bowling kit surrounded by gardening paraphernalia and her favourite white and purple flowers. Emma managed to transport it over to Swanage without incident and it lasted until it was needed on party day. Happy birthday Lil.

Fearn had a trampolining party to celebrate her birthday this year. Here is a jam and buttercream sponge trampoline cake with a model of Fearn jumping in the middle of it. So this was lovely to do. Karen's dad was 100 this weekend. He is very fit and is still a keen walker, loves the garden and enjoys bird watching. Karen sent me a photo and I did my best to recreate him sitting on a garden bench in his walking boots amongst the flowers with his binoculars on his lap. A countryside scene around the side, completed the picture. Underneath it all is a rich fruit cake which meant I could spend plenty of time getting the decorations right. Great fun. Joel contacted me as they were coming down to Milford to celebrate his partner Ana's birthday. Ana is Spanish and the place she comes from is well known for ceramics with a particular traditional design. Annie contacted me through FB messenger to ask if I could make a cake for her daughter’s first birthday. She sent me some pictures from the internet of the sort of thing that she liked and after a chat on the phone we came to a decision. Inside this pretty cake is a Victoria sponge layered with jam and buttercream. The cake is covered with more buttercream and decorated with handmade models. Happy first birthday Rosie.

Derek used to drive an Oliver Super 55 tractor back in the day. Now he is celebrating his 95th birthday with his family and Rosemary asked if I could make a Victoria sponge look like his tractor... Well I'm not sure this one would make it across a ploughed field but it was fun to make and pretty much entirely edible. I understand that the younger relatives were tucking into the remains of it for breakfast the next day..Very many congratulations Derek.
