I completely understand that some of my Christmas items may seem a little expensive, especially at a time of year when we’re all watching the pennies.

Unfortunately, we’re living in a world where the cost of pretty much everything is going up — ingredients, packaging, supplies and all the little things that go into creating your orders.

I always try to price as fairly as I can, and I like to think my prices reflect the quality, time, care and standard of work that goes into every single order 🥰❤️ I would never want to compromise on the quality of what I produce just to make something cheaper.

Can we talk about how absolutely INSANE it is that asking small businesses to work for free has somehow become… normal? 😭

“Hey lovely 💕 I’d LOVE your products/services for my event! In return I can offer you some photos, a Reel, a tag and ✨exposure✨.”

YOU DON’T EVEN FOLLOW ME.

😭😭😭

That’s the bit that absolutely sends me. Half the time they’ve never followed your page, never liked a post, never commented, never shared your work, never bought anything from you…

But suddenly they’ve been admiring your work and would “love to collaborate” when they need something for free. 💀

Imagine messaging your hairdresser:

“Hey babe! I’d love a full head of highlights. I won’t be paying unfortunately, but I’ll take some gorgeous pictures and tag you on my Story 🥰✨”

Or your builder:

“Would you be interested in a little extension collab? I can offer exposure x”

We’d all think you’d lost your mind.

But for some reason when it’s a small business, we’ve renamed asking for free stuff a ✨collaboration✨.

The ingredients cost money.
The packaging costs money.
The equipment costs money.
The electricity costs money.
And — brace yourselves —

OUR TIME COSTS MONEY.

A collaboration should benefit both businesses. You ordering exactly what you wanted and me paying for the privilege of making it isn’t really a collab, is it? 😭

Exposure is lovely. Tags are lovely. Reels are lovely.

Paying customers are lovelier.

Anyway, I’m off to message British Gas and ask if they’d like to collaborate on my electricity bill. I don’t follow them, obviously, but I can tag them on my Story. 💕✨ x
