Ladies (and gents) this is a gentle reminder to go give your fix it kit a good deep clean. Weā€™re coming towards the end of the wedding season so nowā€™s the time to get it done.

Mines actually looking a little empty compared to usual but hereā€™s a list of what youā€™ll generally find in it:

Florist wire
Saccatuers
Spatulas
Palette knives
Wire cutters
Sharp knife (you never know what you might need it for)
Paint brushes
Sharp blade pen things
Screwdriver
Pens
Mini scraper
Food safe florist tape (hamilworth always)

Iā€™ll usually have edible glue, gold leaf, gloves, dowels, spare of any decorations on the cake, spare ganache and my allergen/handover sheet in there too!

How are you ever supposed to pick a front with these cakes? 360 degrees of pure prettiness!

I usually press my own flowers but Iā€™ve been so busy with cakes lately I decided to try some pre-pressed stuff and I was massively impressed. These are a mixture of Floracle and Wee Flower Eater flowers - 100% recommend.

The trusty ganache crumb coatā€¦basically the cake equivalent of putting Spanx on before a night out šŸ˜‚

It keeps everything together, gives those layers some much needed support and creates a solid, stable structure to build the rest of the cake on.

The final coat might get all the glory, but the crumb coat is doing all the heavy lifting behind the scenes and I think it deserves a bit of recognition!
