Wow, what a way to start the week! I just love getting the more unusual cake requests, especially when it's for one our much loved local landmarks, the Saltburn Cliff Lift.

The surprise cake was made for Tramway Trev as a centrepiece for his 70th Birthday party with family and friends.

It took hours of work to create this, all the detail on the wood, the patterns, little finials etc all made from sugarpaste. The freestanding beautiful backdrop with 3D carriages completed the look.

Inside are layers of delicious Madagascan Vanilla sponge and buttercream with a sweet Strawberry jam.

🌼A beautiful Birthday cake decorated with one of our favourite (and Melanies) springtime flowers, the Primrose.

In soft sage green, with the delicate shades of yellow of a hand made centre piece of pretty sugarpaste Primroses, with smaller ones to the sides.

Inside were layers of Sicillian Lemon sponge and buttercream with a tangy Lemon curd.

🌲Traditional Christmas Cakes

I know we're talking the 'C' word and it's only August....however, last year I had lots of people message about traditional Christmas cakes only a couple of weeks before when they had already been baked.

Available in assorted sizes, my delicious award winning traditional fruit cakes were only two points off a gold award at the 2025 Cake International show (fngers crossed for this year) and were loved by the judges.

Baked in September using a very old family recipe, made with the freshest, quality ingredients and spices to allow their delicious, warming, rich flavour to develop. Packed with Brandy soaked fruits, covered in Marzipan and iced beautifully in a traditional or fun design (such as Santa Lantern Light, as shown below, a customers favourite). A wonderful , sparkling, festive centrepiece for your Christmas table.

🌸We start the week with a beautiful floral cascade cake to celebrate a 60th Birthday.

In shades of cream and blush and vintage pinks, and decorated with very realistic, high quality, artficial Roses, Gypsophelia and dried foliage. With home made Macarons and Chocolate spheres.

A box of home made Gluten Free Macarons in various flavours, were also made for a friend to enjoy.

Inside the cake were four layers of delicous Sicillian Lemon sponge, a tangy Sicillian Lemon curd and buttercream.

I would like to send my deepest sympathies and love to the families, colleagues, and friends of PC Matthew Blades and PC Tom Clough of Cleveland Police, who so tragically lost their lives in service at the weekend, they gave everything to protect others💙

⚽️Today is double trouble, with two cakes as centrepieces for football loving Brothers. Both having big Birthdays and celebrating at a joint party.

So we start with Martyns cake, two tiers of delicious Chocolate sponge and yummy Chocolate buttercream in Skelton United blue and decorated with crest, balls and players.

Secondly, we have Stuarts cake, two tiers of delicious Sicillian Lemon sponge and buttercream. In Man City blue and decorated with crest, scarves, balls and the cutest photo.

Delivered and set up at Marske Cricket Club. Have a wonderful party!🎉

SOME EXCITING NEWS!

Many of you will recall the horrendous scenes of 2021, when thousands of dead and dying lobsters and crabs washed up on our beach. It had a devasting impact on our marine life and our fishing community.

In the five years since, I've worked with the NE Fishing Collective and others to fight for answers, and throughout our journey we've been filmed.

So I'm really proud to share, the film/documentary is finished and we have a special screening of "All Rivers Spill Their Stories To The Sea" on Saturday 12th September at the Regent Cinema, Redcar at 5.15pm. TICKETS ARE AVAILABLE NOW! Link below

'When a wave of poisoned crabs and lobsters hits a small fishing town in North East England, veteran fisherman Stan Rennie transforms into an unexpected activist. This is a poignant David and Goliath tale, infused with dark humour and a distinctive local dialect, portraying the struggle of coping with a world that has suddenly and inexplicably changed.

The film will be followed by a Q&A with director and Teessider Jeanie Finlay and the film's star Stan Rennie. I will also be making a centrepiece cake for the event, really looking forward to creating this, lots of detail and effects!
