There’s been so much important conversation this month around SMA awareness, newborn screening, early diagnosis and treatment. But I wanted to share a slightly different side of SMA awareness — the people behind it. 💙
One of the amazing people in Theo’s “city” of healthcare professionals asked if Theo’s Bakehouse could make some SMA cupcakes for them to take on a walk around Royal Stoke, spreading awareness amongst staff earlier this month💙
It made me think about just how many people play a part in Theo’s journey. SMA awareness isn't just about knowing what SMA is - it’s about recognising that the outcome for someone like Theo is shaped by an entire network of people — and that every person's expertise, care, advocacy and willingness to learn and raise awareness plays a part in giving him the life he has today.
So whilst I’ll never be grateful that SMA is part of our story, I’ll forever be grateful for the people who help Theo navigate it, care for him and continue to make a difference. 💙
A special mention to Milton crafts for gifting the cupcake toppers, thank you! 🙏🏼
