A cake with a story to tell.

When I was asked to create an 80th birthday cake celebrating a lady’s Hungarian heritage, I wanted to create something personal and meaningful while keeping the design elegant.

Inspired by Hungarian folk-art florals, I hand-painted the floral wreath around the gold 80, then created a coordinating arrangement of handmade wafer paper flowers, foliage and wheat to bring the design together.

From the smallest painted details to each delicate handmade petal, every element was created specifically for this commission.

I love the way a bespoke cake can celebrate someone’s story, their heritage and the people and traditions that mean the most to them.

This design has been an exercise in creating movement through delicate wafer paper ribbons, balancing intricate sculptural details against clean, architectural tiers.

I love how something as simple as white can create such depth and dimension through form alone.

Also loving the elevated tier look using Prop Options floating tier separator.

I wanted to share something a little different today.

Before this cake became what you see here, it started as a very rough concept on a drawing app.

I knew I wanted soft, organic movement, delicate florals, subtle sage and blush tones and plenty of texture — but the challenge was turning that initial idea into something tangible.

This is the first dummy I’ve decorated since launching Zoe Shaw Cake Artist, and for that reason it’s particularly special to me.

After 11 years of creating cakes, I’ve made the decision to take my work in a completely new direction — focusing on bespoke luxury wedding cakes and haute couture celebration cakes.

This cake feels like the beginning of that journey.

A new name. A new direction. The same passion for creating something beautiful by hand.

I’m so excited to see where this next chapter takes me.

A beautiful evolution

Welcome to Zoe Shaw Cake Artist

formerly Cloud Nine Cakery

After 11 years of creating cakes, I have reached a point where I am ready to take my work in a new direction — one that feels much more true to the artist I have become.

Over recent months, I have been quietly refining my craft, developing new techniques and exploring the artistry behind botanical sugar florals, couture texturing, fine-art detailing and intricate structural modelling.

Now, I am ready to bring that evolution to life.

Zoe Shaw Cake Artist is a new chapter — focused entirely on bespoke cake artistry.

Moving forward, my work will centre around:

Luxury wedding cakes
Haute couture celebration cakes
Fine-art sugar sculpture
Bespoke edible design

Rather than creating traditional novelty or character cakes, I will be dedicating my time to designs that allow greater creative freedom — combining elegant aesthetics, intricate craftsmanship and artistic storytelling to create truly individual pieces.

An elevated experience

Alongside the artistic evolution of the business, I am also elevating the ingredients and materials used throughout my work, selecting carefully considered premium ingredients and professional-grade sugarpastes to complement the level of craftsmanship and finish each commission demands.

Because every bespoke piece requires considerable time and attention to detail, I will also be accepting a strictly limited number of commissions each week.

Every commission is individually designed, with pricing reflecting the size, complexity, craftsmanship and level of detail involved.

To my existing clients

If you already have a booking secured in my diary with your deposit paid, nothing changes.

Your cake will go ahead exactly as planned, with your agreed design, pricing and arrangements remaining completely unaffected.

I cannot wait to create those pieces for you.
