After 15 years of trading as Marie's Bakehouse I am taking a break. I've enjoyed making so many different cakes, cookies, cake toppers and novelty orders. I've taught so many people ranging from 4 years old to some a little bit older! I've enjoyed cupcake parties, workshops, teaching GCSE classes and demonstrations. I've met some fabulous people through the business, some who have remained very special friends. Baking from home has allowed me to work around my children and family, and made sure I was around for them at important times. However, ingredient and material costs have risen a great deal, getting word out on social media has become harder, selling on different platforms a bit of a lottery, and my health has taken a bit of a battering.
About six months ago, I had itchy feet for something different and applied for a teaching job. I was lucky enough to get it and now work with some amazing children and adults. I'm loving the job I lost the love for many years ago.
So for now, the baking is taking a back seat and I'll review the situation towards the end of the year. Any existing cake orders, birthday parties and workshops booked in will still be fulfilled, I'm looking forward to doing each of these and making the most of enjoying the last of these events. I'll still be posting a few of the pictures I haven't got round to posting as yet.
Thank you so much to everyone who has ordered anything, attended a class or workshop, bought from one of my stalls, liked or commented on a post over the years. Everything was very much appreciated! xx

If you are looking for a fun activity for the kids over half term, how about a dragon themed cupcake workshop? Two hours of creativity making six sugarpaste cupcake toppers, piping buttercream and learning new skills. Children can come with or without an adult, everyone taking part in the activity must purchase a class space. £20 a head, 10am-12 noon, Tuesday 18th February, at The Croft which is the black and white building next to The Church Inn on Church Road in Flixton.

Love monster cookies available to order for Valentine's day, with or without personalisation. Available in vanilla, chocolate or gingerbread flavour. £4 each, presented in a cellophane bag tied with a ribbon, complete with ingredients and allergen labels.

An appropriate set for the chilly weather we are having at the moment! We'll be making these this Saturday morning at the children's class 10-12 at The Croft on Church Road in Flixton. £20 a head. Adults can attend too, either to accompany the child attendee or to decorate too. Suitable for children aged 6+ or younger if accompanied by an adult. Message me to book asap as booking closes very soon.

Fancy trying something new in 2025? Have a resolution to get out and try new crafts? Why not come and join me at the next children's cupcake class on Saturday 11th January, 10am - 12? We'll make six cosy winter themed toppers and then pipe delicious buttercream on to the cupcakes baked by Marie. Suitable for children aged 6+ , or younger if accompanied by an adult. Parents or carers can decorate too, or the children can attend on their own. Marie is fully DBS checked and has many years of teaching experience. £20 a head. All attendees decorating must purchase a place, but adults can attend to accompany their children.

An amazing class on Saturday afternoon at Beyond Education Tutoring Ltd. ! 12 fantastic cake artists listening and following instructions so well to produce these brilliant cupcakes! If you'd like to purchase a voucher for a last minute gift for the Winter themed cupcake class on 11th January, please let me know asap :) *a couple of photos were blurred, if parents have a picture of the missing cupcakes and cake artists, please share a picture with me!*
