A little life update… 💕
At the beginning of 2026, I made the incredibly difficult decision to close my cake business.
Like so many small businesses, the rising cost of ingredients, utilities and everyday expenses eventually became too much. It wasn’t a decision I ever wanted to make, but one I had to.
When I closed, I genuinely believed it would only be temporary. My plan was always to take a step back, regroup, relocate, find a little tearoom and come back to the business I loved.
Over the last few months, though, I’ve spent a lot of time reflecting. The cake industry has changed a lot, the economy has changed, and so have my plans. Sometimes life takes you in a different direction than you expected, and that’s okay.
If I’m honest, the last few months have been some of the hardest I’ve experienced. But through everything, one thing has never changed…
My love of baking. 🧁❤️
Baking has always been my happy place. It’s where my mind quietens, my creativity comes alive, and for a little while, everything feels okay. It’s more than cakes to me—it’s therapy.
In August, I’ll be starting a new full-time job, which I’m really looking forward to. I’m going back to my previous career, before cakes, working in a lab, this one is a pathology lab. While it’s a different path from the one I imagined, it brings a sense of stability and a fresh new chapter in my life.
But this page isn’t going anywhere.
Although I won’t be returning to cake making as a business, I’d love to keep sharing my passion for baking with you. I’m planning to post tutorials, favourite recipes, decorating tips, behind-the-scenes bakes and anything else I think fellow baking lovers might enjoy.
To every single one of you who has supported my little business over the years—whether you ordered a cake, liked a post, shared my work or simply followed along—thank you from the bottom of my heart. You helped turn a dream into reality, and I will always be grateful for that.
I hope you’ll stay with me for this next chapter. It may look a little different, but it will still be full of flour, butter, sugar, creativity… and plenty of cake.
