🌹 Six Years of Climbing Rose

Six years ago, on 25th September 2020, I launched Climbing Rose Virtual Assistant Services.

At the time, I wanted to build a business that gave me more freedom and flexibility, while still allowing me to use the skills and experience I’d built throughout my career.

Six years on, that still matters enormously. But I think what Climbing Rose means to me has grown too.

This past year has brought new clients, new projects and plenty of variety. I’ve helped clients launch new offshoot businesses, supported an old colleague while she takes maternity leave, stepped into busy inboxes, kept content moving, organised the behind-the-scenes admin and generally helped businesses keep doing what they do best.
And that, really, is what I love most about this job.

Climbing Rose isn’t about simply ticking things off a list. It’s about being the person in the background who knows the business, understands what matters and can be trusted to get things done.
It’s about supporting other people to be at their best, while making sure I continue to give them the very best of me too.

Six years in, I’m still learning, still growing and still incredibly grateful that I get to work with such a brilliant mix of businesses and people.
And I’m still very glad I took that leap back in 2020.

Being a Virtual Assistant can sometimes look a little bit like anyone with a laptop can set themselves up and get started.

Since launching Climbing Rose in 2020, I’ve been approved by the Society of Virtual Assistants (SVA).

To be SVA approved, there are a number of essentials that need to be in place, including:

🌱 Professional insurance
🌱 ICO registration
🌱 Secure data handling and back-ups
🌱 A professional online presence
🌱 Good communication and professional working practices

For clients, that gives an extra bit of reassurance that Climbing Rose has been independently checked and that I take the responsibility of supporting your business seriously.

It’s not just a badge for the website. It shows there are proper foundations behind the scenes too. I'm pretty proud of it tbh!

Still here. Still working. Still supporting my wonderful clients. 🌹

But we're in that final school term madness before the summer holidays, and my focus is exactly where it needs to be.

One of the reasons I started Climbing Rose was to create a business that gave me the flexibility to be there for my children when it matters most, and this is one of those seasons.

So if my feed is a little quieter over the next few weeks (maybe even months!), don't worry. I'm busy helping my clients and cheering on my two biggest achievements.

Behind the scenes, it's very much business as usual. I'm still meeting deadlines, keeping things moving and supporting the brilliant businesses I work with every day.

I'm just spending a little less time creating content and a little more time being present where it matters most.

I’m delighted to be sponsoring Malmesbury In Bloom again this year. 🌸

Every time we walk past the flower displays at Tolsey Gate, they add a little extra colour to the day. The children also love sharing the quirky history behind this corner of our town.

Did you know the Tolsey once housed the "blind house" – a tiny lock-up where those who had enjoyed one too many drinks were left to sober up in complete darkness? 😅

Built in 1789, the Tolsey later became a local lock-up before eventually being used to store Malmesbury's fire engine, which can now be seen in the Town Hall. It's amazing how much history can be found in such a small building.

I feel incredibly proud to support an initiative that helps keep Malmesbury looking so beautiful while bringing our community together. 🌼💛
