The 25 Bakes of Christmas! Day 25! ⭐️🌟

IIIIIIIIITTTTTTT’S CHRIIISSSTMAAAAASSS!!!
I hope you all have a very merry Christmas and a restful day, whatever you may be up to!

And given the occasion, it seems only appropriate we end the 25 Bakes of Christmas with a Christmas star!
Back in the summer, our Rock Choir leader Kat earned a well deserved promotion, which sadly meant she could no longer lead our group. Therefore, we thought we’d give her a proper send off, with plenty of gifts, surprise musical performances, and of course, cake!

And being a Rock Choir cake, it had to feature the colour blue, stars and chocolate (because everyone loves chocolate!). Which, now that I think about it, is remarkably similar to the branding for The Midnight Bakery! 🤔(But of course legally and distinctly unique, so don’t sue me, please and thank you!) 😊 A subconscious influence, perhaps!

The 25 Bakes of Christmas! Day 24! 💍

It’s Christmas Eve!!! And very nearly the end of our 25 Bakes of Christmas!

But, of course, being the dramatic sort, I’ve saved a couple of very significant cakes to end the series with a bang, including these!
Back in June, I had the absolute honour of baking Zoë & Tom’s wedding cakes! A “small-ish” cake to cut, featuring Zoë’s favourite colour and Tom’s favourite cake flavour (Red Velvet! 😋), alongside 60 red velvet and 60 lemon drizzle cupcakes for the guests to take home!

Being my first ever wedding cakes, I was slightly nervous to say the least, but in the end it all went incredibly smoothly, thanks to a bit of assistance from in getting everything set up! (And for making the incredible cake topper!)

Delighted that the happy couple had an incredible wedding day and very grateful for my thank you card! 😊
Thanks again to Zoë & Tom for entrusting me with such an important part of your big day and hope you have a fantastic Christmas!

The 25 Bakes of Christmas! Day 23! ❄️🧣

We’re back to something a little more au naturel this time, with a dairy-free chocolate cake!

Vegan chocolate sponges, filled with chocolate buttercream and topped with hazelnuts, redcurrants, raspberries, a singular but all important cherry and a Nomo Fruit & Crunch bar! (which I’d personally recommend whether you’re dairy-free or not, they’re pretty good!)

It’s wintery, it’s chocolatey, mission accomplished! 😁👍

The 25 Bakes of Christmas! Day 21! 🎄💛

Occasionally, when given free rein over a cake design, I like to go a bit off piste, and this is a great example! 😋
For this Coffee & Walnut Cake, I took inspiration from fault line cakes, which usually have a horizontal “crack” in the buttercream coating, running all the way round and revealing a design underneath. However, I decided it would be a lot more fun to make it asymmetric too! 😁🤷‍♂️
For a first attempt at anything fault line, I was pretty pleased with the outcome! I’d probably make the outer layer of buttercream a bit thinner next time, so you don’t end up with quite so much buttercream to get through, but I cant argue that the sweep doesn’t look dramatic!

The cake is topped off with golden coffee macarons, chopped walnuts and isomalt hearts dusted with a little gold glitter!

The 25 Bakes of Christmas! Day 20! 🩷🧡💚

Today’s post is a bit later than usual, but it’s been a busy day!

Not quite as busy as this cake though! This was made for my sister Hannah’s birthday back in February and with her being into maximalism, I wanted to throw as many different piping styles at this as possible!
If you want to give your piping a practice, this could be worth a try at home! It takes a while, but the busy decor hides any little mistakes here and there!

Inside is a Gluten-Free Raspberry Lemonade cake: lemon and raspberry drizzle sponges, lemon curd and raspberry buttercream!

The 25 Bakes of Christmas! Day 18! 🍫🍫🍫

It’s chocolate overload time again! Which, if I had my way, would be everyday, but sadly, health exists and is important, apparently! 🤷‍♂️

Thankfully, a birthday is only once a year, so it’s an opportunity to really go all out! This naked chocolate cake for RedDoor Homes features chocolate drip, Guylian shells, Maltesers, Ferrero Rocher and chopped hazelnuts! With a few gold leaves and white chocolate shards for decoration 😁
