Opened by Anne Campbell in 1994, The Bakers Oven sells quality baked goods, hot meals, birthday cakes and party goods to order. Anne's grandfather James McDaid established the family's first bakery in the Bogside in 1916 and for almost a century the McDaid name has maintained its reputation of providing high quality freshly baked goods. Step inside our traditional Georgian-style shop at No. 6 Ship

quay Street, a Listed Building that dates from the late-18th century. There has been a local shop at No. 6 Shipquay Street since the 1850s. The bakery stands in the Historic Centre of Derry and is the number one destination for tourists who wish to experience the real flavour of local cuisine in the Walled City.

As tomorrow is my last day trading I would just like to say I have really enjoyed my 28 years in business and it's been down to all the lovely people I have met along the way. I have had some amazing staff who have worked with me and helped me make the business what it is.It became more than a job and so many of my customers and suppliers I would now consider my friends. You supported me through the ups and downs especially the tough years of Covid when life as we knew it changed so much. I am sad to be leaving but excited and looking forward to the next chapter in my life. I thank you all for all the kind gifts, cards,lovely messages and lots of hugs.
