So now the GBBO semi-final and An Extra Slice have been aired, I can share this without breaching confidentiality! Having queued in a deluge I got to sit at a table for the audience recording of An Extra Slice, along with my wonderful hubby and gorgeous daughter who both supported me..and the cake I took! ..it was heavy. So, we didn't get featured, but if you watched the episode on Friday 21st Oct, and didn't blink, you'd have caught glimpses of us and the cake! It was great fun and worth the waiting because although my cake wasn't featured or tasted, Nadia was giving us the thumbs up from her seat and Ruth Davidson came over after filming and said they'd all been eyeing it up and really wanted to taste it. Ruth took a pic and said she'd put it on twitter; we'll see. It was 6 layers: Guinness & chocolate drenched in Guinness syrup, filled with choc buttercream/ Rum & choc drenched in Rum syrup, filled with rum ganache/Baileys & choc drenched in Baileys (Thank you Paul Thomas Bradford for that tip!)filled with Baileys cream cheese frosting. The Extra Slice is a light chocolate cake filled and topped with ricotta and honey. The cake was drenched in alcohol...and we were drenched in the rain, desperately protecting the cake!
