Super proud of my team who prepared a wonderful Yorkshire Afternoon Tea for a wedding in Swaledale on Saturday.

And I really enjoyed working alongside Anne-Marie of Joyously Vintage who supplied the most spectacular display of vintage china that set off our food wonderfully.

Here’s what the wedding party tucked into:

Finger sandwiches on our own malthouse bread and focaccia (cream cheese and (Swaledale!) cucumber; egg mayonnaise; tuna and sweetcorn; coronation chicken)
Quiche Lorraine
Blue cheese and broccoli quiche
Pork and apricot mini sausage rolls
Butternut squash and maple syrup sausage rolls
Salmon and dill frittata
Feta and toasted tomato frittata
Plain and fruit scones with Rosebud Preserves and clotted cream
Yorkshire curd tart
A selection of mini cakes (coffee; Victoria sponge; lemon drizzle and brownie)
Cheeseboard with olive oil rolls

A very busy few days but absolutely worth it!

Do you know we deliver to every Friday? Delicious, award-winning sourdoughs made with just flour, water, salt and that precious ingredient - time!

“Bread like we’ve eaten in France”. Or “bread like my grandmother used to make”. Just some of the comments we receive regularly.

Despite the lack of additives/preservatives, our sourdoughs freeze really well.

We beat the heat!!

Each summer we face a few days where extreme temperatures test all of us. Our front of house team ensuring our lovely customers get the same excellent service whilst they themselves are melting; our bakers coping with demanding physical work at temps above 35C and the dough itself - temperamental at the best of times but positively gnarly above 30C.

Great teamwork last week meant we didn’t just survive the heat but rose above it to produce some outstanding products and serve them with a smile.

A massive thanks to the whole team - super proud of all of you every day, but especially last week.

Jasper makes it look easy but pity our amazing bakers last week - coping with 39+C and 60% humidity at 5am. They did an amazing job to get through the shift let alone produce stunning loaves!
