My dearest Renée
My soul loved you even before my eyes met your face—
before I knew your heart, before I held your hand.
You were a promise whispered to my spirit,
a dream the stars kept safe until it was time.
You are the closest to heaven that I’ll ever be.
Seven years—
and still, I watch you with the awe of that first dawn,
your laughter the hymn that stitched me whole.
Your face, my love, is a sunrise I never tire of meeting.
Your touch, a promise that life is worth the fight.
When my body falters, you do not turn away.
You wrap your warmth around the quiet ache,
your small hand steady as truth itself.
There is patience in your soul that humbles me,
a kindness vast enough to cradle the world.
You see sorrow, and you do not fear it.
You meet it with mischief—
a crooked grin, a giggle,
a heart that refuses to let gloom stay too long.
Even strangers feel your light;
the weary lift their heads when you pass,
for joy follows where you tread.
The wind seems to bow to you,
the birds linger in your voice,
and creatures both shy and small
draw near as though they know you are one of them.
You move through nature not as guest,
but as kin—
its pulse and yours forever intertwined.
You love fiercely,
as the moon loves the tide—
constant, steady, unafraid of night.
You are bold, my child,
and brave beyond your years;
a wild flame that refuses to dim.
You are the reason I rise each day,
even when pain would rather see me still.
Your existence is my defiance,
your laughter, my healing song.
You are both my beginning and my becoming—
my heart, unbroken, because of you.
If I could give you anything,
it would be this knowing:
that you were born from wonder,
that you are enough—
and that love such as yours
is the rarest magic this world will ever hold.
So walk gently, my darling,
but never small.
May the stars always bow to your courage,
and may your spirit remain wild and free.
For you are my light,
my forever reason,
my miracle beyond reason—
and I, your mother,
will love you long after the stars forget to shine.
