I don’t typically write posts about joining directories or being listed somewhere. But this one feels different, and for obvious reasons, I felt compelled to.

I’m really proud to say that Razzmatazz Cakes is now a member of the Rebel Love Wedding Directory. 🏳️‍🌈

As a cisgender, heterosexual woman and an LGBTQ+ ally, I know that inclusivity isn’t about simply saying “everyone is welcome here”. It’s about making sure people can actually see that they are welcome, represented and respected, before they ever have to ask.

Wedding suppliers are invited into such a personal and important part of a couple’s life. Nobody should have to wonder whether they’ll be comfortable talking about their partner, whether their relationship will be understood, or whether they’ll be treated differently because of who they love or how they identify.

That’s why being part of Rebel Love means something to me.

For me, allyship isn’t a badge, a rainbow added to a logo once a year, or something to mention only during Pride. It’s something I want reflected in the way I run my business, the language I use, the couples I represent and, most importantly, the way people feel when they come through my door.

I make wedding cakes for couples. All couples.

And I want every person who considers Razzmatazz Cakes for their wedding to know from the very beginning that they are welcome here. ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

I’m incredibly pleased to be joining a directory that helps LGBTQ+ couples find wedding suppliers who are committed to making their wedding planning experience a welcoming and inclusive one.

Proud LGBTQ+ ally. Proud Rebel Love Directory member. Proud to create cakes that celebrate your story, your way. 🏳️‍🌈

I am no more… my mini-me, that is! 😂

I made this cake back in January and since then she has accompanied me to wedding fairs across London as one of my showpieces.

She certainly got people talking and even inspired several enquiries for bespoke bobblehead wedding cakes featuring the happy couple, some of which I’m very much looking forward to bringing to life.

But after an exceptionally hot summer, an ever-diminishing amount of space in my storeroom, and one final outing last weekend, it was finally time to say goodbye. 💔

I have to admit, cutting into her head felt VERY wrong. 😂 And after eight months on the road, I was rather intrigued to see what was going on inside.

Surprisingly, not nearly as mouldy as I expected…

Would I recommend eating it? Absolutely not! 🤣

So farewell, mini-me. You served me well.

And as for the space she’s left behind…

I’ve already got plans for my next wedding-fair showpiece, and it’s going to be a good’un. 👀🎂

Created using a cake structure ♥️

There's always a little bit of nervousness when you hand one of your cake sample boxes over to another wedding professional… 👀🍰

So when China from The Wedding Society, who I've had the pleasure of collaborating with, and her husband (and very willing assistant!) Ben sat down to put one of my Razzmatazz Cakes sample boxes to the test, of course I wanted to know what they thought.

And I loved watching this. 😂

From Ben patiently waiting all morning for his cake delivery, to opening the box, getting the kettle on and the VERY important business of deciding who gets which slice… this is pretty much exactly how I hope my couples enjoy their sample boxes too.

For me, the tasting is all part of the wedding cake experience, trying different flavours, comparing favourites and sometimes discovering that the flavour you weren't expecting to choose turns out to be the one.

Thank you China and Ben for being such brilliant (and very willing!) taste testers. ❤️🍰

And now for the important question… which flavour came out on top? 👀

✨ A little bit of a full-circle moment… ✨

Yesterday I had the pleasure of exhibiting at the Tower Hamlets Wedding Fair, held inside the beautifully restored former Royal London Hospital building, now home to Tower Hamlets Town Hall.

This building has such an incredible history, but for me it also holds a very personal one. 25 years ago I gave birth to my daughter here! So walking back through those doors all these years later, this time with wedding cakes in tow, felt rather special. 🤍

I also managed to have a little wander around the building with the lovely Sam, who pointed out some of the original features that have been preserved during the restoration. including one ceremonial room, which, incredibly, was once a gynaecological operating theatre! Definitely not something I expected to discover at a wedding fair. 😂

It was such a lovely day meeting so many people, chatting all things weddings and, of course, connecting with couples beginning to think about their wedding cakes. It was particularly lovely to be doing a wedding fair so locally for a change and meeting so many lovely people right here in East London.

And it was also great to meet and spend the day alongside some fabulous fellow wedding suppliers:

✨ Event planning —
✨ Event decor —
✨ Celebrant- .days.with.amy
📷 Photographer — .photographer (thank you for my amazing pics! 💕)
🎂 And yours truly —

Now, the eagle-eyed among you may notice that Mini Me survived to live another day and made yet another appearance on my stand. 😂 But I really do think this has to be her final outing… she has served me well!

And the most popular cake on my display?

🍒 The cherry cake, of course! 🍒

After the reaction it received on Instagram, I probably shouldn't have been surprised, but it got a resounding thumbs up in person too. Clearly this little rectangle is having quite the moment. ❤️

A lovely day, a fascinating venue and a rather unexpected trip down memory lane.

Couture Cherry Cake 🍒

How does the saying go? Never say never…

As someone who doesn’t make buttercream cakes or really follow trends, I thought I’d never make a rectangle cake, that is until now.

A wedding cake consultation and subsequent order for a rectangle cake had me fired up and thinking of the ways I’d execute something like this in fondant. Hence this creation!

What do you think?🤔

A little favour from my past couples... 🤍

One of the greatest privileges of my job is creating cakes for so many amazing couples, each with their own story.

While I get to spend hours creating your cake, I rarely get to see it become part of your wedding day. Those moments when you cut your cake, share a laugh, or celebrate with your favourite people are the moments I miss the most.

I'd love my portfolio to better reflect the many love stories I've had the privilege of being a small part of, because I want every couple who visits my page to feel welcomed from the very beginning.

If you've received your wedding gallery and have any photographs of your cake or your cake cutting that you'd be happy for me to share, I'd love to see them. Whether it's a beautifully styled detail shot, a cake-cutting moment or a candid photograph from your reception, I'd be honoured to celebrate your wedding here (with your permission, of course😊).

Seeing my cakes become part of your celebrations is one of the greatest joys of what I do, and every image helps tell the story behind the cake far better than I ever could.

Thank you for allowing me to play a small part in such an important day. It honestly means more than you know. 🤍

Photographer credits will always be given.

Stacy & Ryan 🖤🤍

It great to be back at Devonshire Terrace this weekend delivering Stacy and Ryan’s wedding cake, and to see Gabi and the rest of the team busily getting everything ready for the day’s celebrations.

Their black and white theme was classic and elegant with a modern, editorial feel, and this cake was designed to bring all of those elements together.

The white-on-white Lambeth-style detailing gave it a vintage feel, but the long black bows completely changed the look and brought in a modern edge.

I really enjoyed making this one. It may sound strange, but after creating quite a few more free-flowing, contemporary designs lately, it was actually really nice to make a cake that required so much concentration and precision. There was definitely no going on autopilot with this one! 😂

And inside were all three of my signature flavours, Luscious Lemon, Dark Chocolate Mud and Classic Vanilla.

Congratulations Stacy & Ryan! I hope you had the most amazing day. 🖤🤍

Describe your wedding in three words...

It's one of my favorite questions to ask during every wedding cake consultation.

Susan & Claire didn't even need to think about it. Modern, Dramatic and Bold was the reply. Music to my ears!

I couldn't wait to start sketching.

Their brief meant so much me especially when Susan casually mentioned mid-consultation that Claire is an artist... no pressure! 😄 Also their choice of venue, which was the iconic Islington Town Hall made this even more of a special cake.

I did jokingly warn them that black fondant might leave a few guests with slightly darker smiles after the cake cutting, but they just laughed and said they didn't care. The vision was set.

Although I already knew their reception would be at Trullo, walking into the room on the wedding morning made everything click even more. The exposed brickwork, dramatic lighting and beautiful black and crimson florals perfectly reflected those three words we'd started with months earlier. In that moment, I knew we'd captured exactly what Susan & Claire had envisioned.

Swipe across to image four to see where it all began, the original sketch from our consultation. Every bespoke cake starts with a conversation, a pencil and a blank sheet of paper, and I love sharing that part of the journey.

Standing just over 10 inches tall (if you've followed me for a while, you'll know I'm definitely a feeder! 😂), this fondant sail/flame contemporary design has quietly become one of my signature creations.

Inside was one of my favourite flavour combinations. Cherry Bakewell, layered with black cherry preserve, almond buttercream and white chocolate ganache. It's a flavour I'd love to create more often.

Susan & Claire, thank you for trusting me with such an important part of your wedding day and for giving me the creative freedom to bring your vision to life.

Wishing you both a lifetime of happiness together. 🖤
