Would you tell your best friend to just give up?

So why do you say that to yourself?

When setting goals or working towards a goal do you find yourself in a constant mental battle with yourself? Caught between, “yes, come on. I can do this.” and “what’s the point, it might not work out anyway?”.

Who is the owner of that voice and when did you start listening to them?

It is important to remember that the thought loops we get stuck in are just a story. Maybe a story that began in childhood with an overly cautious parent, during adolescence at the hands of a tyrannical teacher or maybe even as an adult in a toxic relationship.

You have to remember that those stories are not your truth and they do not define you. Separating yourself from the story is the first step.

Next time you feel yourself stuck in a negative thought loop, try this…

Stand in front of a mirror and say “The story I am telling myself does not belong to me, it is not my truth.”.

Just like people cakes come in all different shapes and sizes, but in my opinion, the bigger the better 😋

Some of these cakes you will have seen on the grid before, some may be new to you. This is a range of sizes and styles I have created over the years.

Looking back through old photos brings up a mixture of feelings. Pride in what I’ve achieved and how far I’ve come, nostalgia for some of the clients I’ve worked with, sadness in knowing I have less time now to indulge in creating just for arts sake but most of all gratitude for the life I’ve built.

This post started as a fun carousel to show you some different styles, a light hearted post to make you smile, but it has ended with me feeling so thankful for everyone of you that is on this journey with me. Thanks for being here, for staying and for your continued support.

I met Moyin & Justin at the wedding fair organised my last year. I knew as soon as I met them that making their wedding cake would be a beautiful experience.

They were the sweetest couple and I really felt that they trusted me to create something stunning for them. Each time myself and Moyin spoke we discussed her expectations and how I could go above and beyond them to create something memorable and delicious.

Moyin wanted something pretty and feminine but she didn’t necessarily want traditional florals so we came up with the idea of using wafer paper to create these giant abstract petals.

This cake was two tiers of my signature vanilla bean sponge filled a subtly sweet strawberry conserve and a silky vanilla bean Swiss meringue buttercream. The last tier was my infamous lemon cake ( ) with tangy lemon curd and zingy lemon Swiss meringue buttercream.

I love a quote and staying on brand we had to bring it back to love.
